The Braxtons are a quintet formed by Toni Braxton and her sisters Traci, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar. One of their best performances took place in 1994 when they sang “Breathe Again.”

Even though the group was not as successful as they would have wanted, one of them, Toni, embarked on a solo career, and she is still performing on shows all over the country.

The song they chose to sing during the “Today Show” was part of Toni’s self-titled debut album, released in 1993. People liked the tune so much that it reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“BREATHE AGAIN”

“Breathe Again” earned Toni her second consecutive Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance in 1995, catapulting her career even more. During the “Today” show, Bryant Gumbel, who was the anchor, asked Toni about the group.

THE GROUP

Given the fact that Toni was popular as a solo artist already, he asked why she opted to embark on a solo career instead of a group. Toni pointed out that they tried in the past, but it didn’t work out.

GETTING BACK TOGETHER

Even though the group didn’t do nothing much related to the music industry, they got together in 2011 to star in the WE TV reality show titled “Braxton Family Values” where their mother, Evelyn, also took part.

TAMAR REVEALING SHE WAS MOLESTED

Recently, all members of the family got in the middle of the spotlight after Tamar revealed that she was molested as a child multiple times by family members.

While on “The Wendy Williams Show,” the reality star made the shocking revelation after she recalled her recent family meeting with Iyanla Vanzant where she stormed out without revealing the reason.

When Wendy asked why she had done that, Tamar confessed that it was because Iyanla, who is a therapist, was too abrasive and sex-shamed her in front of everybody regarding her molestation issue. Nothing much has been said about it ever since.
