Serena Williams and her ex-boyfriend rapper Common have broken societal norms. They remain close friends and even appear at events together.

They had been a serious relationship a few years ago. The couple had dated for three years before they broke up in 2010.

There was some tension between them when in 2011, another rapper and Common had a feud over Serena. They used their songs to get back at one another and had a fist fight at the 2012 Grammy Awards.

But years later, Serena and Common are still good friends still support each other. Recently they walked the red carpet together.

The exes teamed up for a charity event. They walked onto the stage together at the Lyric Opera Of Chicago for the Creative Minds Talk- The Art of Storytelling: Serena Williams & Common.

The talk, on Monday, October 29, 2018, focused on public speaking and motivation. They also discussed philanthropy, activism, and entrepreneurship

All proceeds from the ticket sales of the event were donated to the Common Ground Foundation and The Yetunde Price Resource Center, which was founded by Serena and her sister Venus. Even though the event was a charity event, both looked amazing.

Serena wore a stunning pink jumper and black tights. Her hair was pulled back and she kept her makeup to the bare minimum.

Common, also went with casual elegance, pairing a bright red jumper with khaki trousers. They posed together for pictures before their talk.

Common is known for congratulating Serena for her wins. He also shares her campaigns and motivational sayings with his Twitter followers from time to time.

It would seem that for Serena and Common their close friendship is exactly what they both need to inspire everyone around them.
