The girl, aged 10, sobbed in the courtroom where she was supported by her mother. According to Star Tribune, she lay her head in her mother's arms throughout the ordeal. Her father was also present.

Judge James Isaacson took ten minutes to complete the bond hearing at Chippewa County Circuit Court. After County District Attorney Wade Newell explained the charges, Isaacson decided on a $50,000 cash bond.

Last Tuesday, the Chippewa County Sheriff's office responded to a call in Tilden. They were told that a male infant of six months was bleeding from his head and unresponsive.

The baby was taken to a local hospital called St. Joseph's before being airlifted to the Gillette Children's Hospital. They later confirmed the child had died on November 1.

Child abuse medical specialist informed authorities that the injuries reflected intentional child abuse. When deputies spoke to Amber Sweeney, the day caregiver, she explained the day's runnings.

Chippewa County Sheriff James Kowalczyk told the media that the girl was holding the infant and then dropped him. The child hit his head on a footstool and began crying.

In a panic, the girl stomped on the infant's head so as not to get into trouble. Police spoke to one adult and three children. All others indicated that the 10-year-old was responsible.

Upon being interviewed, she denied what she had done before eventually confessing. At court, the girl showed up in handcuffs, a black hoodie, and pink sneakers.

Before the incident, the young girl lived with the family who ran the daycare center. It was not revealed why she was there but she had only been with them since September 2018.

Kowalcyk solemnly stated that "it's not been a good morning for Chippewa Country." He was referring to this instance as well as the hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of three Girl Scouts and a scout mother.

Back in 2015, another young child was charged for murdering a toddler. An eight-year-old boy incurred blunt-force trauma to the head of 17-month-old Kelci Lewis.

The incident also took place in October of that year. The child's mother was at a nightclub with her friend when Kelci was killed by a series of beatings.

Four other children aged two, four, six, and seven were in the house. When the mothers returned home, they didn't realize anything was wrong. The next morning, baby Kelci was taken to the hospital and confirmed dead.

Meanwhile, in June 2018, a father horrifically murdered his own seven-week-old son. Emilion Morales, 24, was charged with felony murder for punching his child.

Morales admitted to the punching but did not say why he did it. Since this occurred in Texas, there is the possibility of death or life in prison for the unspeakable crime.
