Who is Kim Kardashian?

Kimberly Noel Kardashian West is a reality television personality, entrepreneur, and socialite. She first caught media attention when she became the friend and stylist of Paris Hilton. However, she was launched to fame when a 2003 sex tape with her former boyfriend Ray J was leaked in 2007. Kim and her family are best known for their reality TV show, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

Early life:

Kim was born on October 21, 1980, in Los Angeles, California, to Robert Kardashian and Kris Jenner. She has three siblings, Kourtney, Khloe, and Rob Kardashian.

Her parents divorced in 1991, and her mother married Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner) in the same year. Through their marriage, Kim gained three step-brothers, Burton "Burt", Brandon, and Brody, a step-sister named Casey and two half-sisters called Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

She attended Marymount all-girls high school in Los Angeles. In 1994, her father represented football player O. J. Simpson during his murder trial. Simpson is Kim’s godfather.

Career:

Kim started working as an assistant to socialite Paris Hilton after graduating high school. She later went into business with her two sisters by opening a boutique called DASH. They started with one store in Calabasas, California. They then expanded to several other locations.

In early 2007 a sex tape featuring Kim and her then-boyfriend R&B singer Ray J was leaked online. She sued the video’s distributor and received an out-of-court settlement.

The attention from the tape boosted her into stardom and the entire Kardashian family landed a chance to be famous. They became the stars of the reality TV series, "Keeping Up with the Kardashians." The show follows their daily lives and special occasions. The popular show also has a few spinoffs which Kim also stars in.

Through the show, Kim became a pop culture phenomenon. She currently also makes money from her social-media and endorsement deals as well as numerous business ventures, including a series of fitness DVDs, a credit card, various beauty products, and a game app that allows users to create a celebrity. She recently launched her own makeup brand.

Kim also landed a few film roles, including "Disaster Movie" in 2008.

Personal life:

In 2000, at the age of 19, Kim eloped with a music producer, Damon Thomas. They divorced three years later. Before her divorce was finalized, Kim began dating singer Ray J.

In 2010, Kim started dating Kris Humphries and one year later they got engaged. They got married on August 20 in Montecito, California. However, they infamously got divorced after only 72 days of marriage.

She went on to date her longtime friend, Kanye West in April 2012. She was still legally married to Kris Humphries at the time and the divorce was finalized on June 3, 2013.

Kim and West got engaged on October 21 of ther same year. They tied the knot a year later on May 24, 2014, at Fort di Belvedere in Florence, Italy. They have three children together.
