NeNe Leakes gets blasted for choice of words in tribute post to Kim Porter
NeNe Leakes, the celebrity star best known for “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” shared a tribute post to late friend Kim Porter on Instagram, but some followers didn’t like what she wrote.
In the image, Porter appeared wearing a beautiful white dress while flashing her infectious smile posing next to Leakes, who put on a burgundy gown and was holding a drink.
“Fun beautiful soul [Kim] and i in 2010 at one of [Diddy’s] famous New Years Eve’s Parties in Miami! This girl knew how to have a good ole time, [sic]” wrote Leakes in the caption.
PEOPLE’S REACTION
While most of her followers considered that it was a wonderful photo and a great way to pay tribute to Porter, some others took to the comment section to complain about the words Leakes chose.
“Wow, you made a memorial post about yourself. Rude,” wrote one user.
“[Leakes] just want to post a picture because others are doing it. They were not friends,” pointed out a second one.
“When I read her post I thought it was more about her. No reaching, no hating, that's how the message came across to me,” added a third one.
However, many more people defended Leakes’ post saying that nobody could please all people all the time and that there was nothing wrong with the picture or the caption as it was a genuine tribute.
BEYONCÉ’S TRIBUTE
Leakes is not the only celebrity who honored Porter’s passing on social media as Beyoncé also took to Instagram to share three photos of her as well as a short yet beautiful caption.
The first image portrayed Porter as a child with curly hair and flashing her infectious smile. For the caption, Beyoncé wrote, “Heaven couldn’t wait for you.” In the second photo, the singer chose another pic from Porter’s childhood.
For the third one, Porter appeared wearing a beautiful black dress with a high slit posing between her twin daughters D’Lila Star and Jessie James, two of the children she had with rapper Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs.
PORTER’S FUNERAL
As People reported, Porter was laid to rest in Georgia, her hometown, on November 24. One of the most striking aspects of the funeral was that her casket traveled in a carriage pulled by horses during the public funeral, held at Columbus’ Cascade Hills Church and officiated by pastor T.D. Jakes.
People also revealed that Diddy held a memorial for his ex-partner at his home in Bel Air, California, on November 18. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Mary J. Blige, French Montana, and Kourtney Kardashian were present.
