Will Smith's son Trey shares rare throwback family photo with his mom, step-mom & siblings

Trey Smith recently took to Instagram to share a photo from his childhood alongside his mom, Sheree Zampino, step-mother, Jada Pinkett Smith and his siblings. The young man melted hearts as he reflected on the evolution of his family, days before he revealed something big to his dad.

The 26-year-old is the eldest son of Will Smith with ex-wife Sheree Zampino. Despite the differences between his parents, Trey grew up surrounded by love and a united family.

Jada Pinkett Smith, Will’s second wife, made sure of integrating him into her family.

Trey has been open about his love and appreciation for Jada, his “bonus mom,” in several occasions; and earlier this year fans saw the actress and Sheree discussing their relationship in front of the cameras for Pinkett Smith’s show, “Red Table Talk.”

Among other things, Jada revealed that she regrets not waiting for Will and Sheree to finish their divorce before she came into the picture, and Zampino thanked the star for loving her son and taking care of him as if he were her own. Both women agreed on the fact that it wasn’t easy getting used to their new family dynamic, but they did it for the kids.

REFLECTING ON THE PAST

Now, Trey seems to be realizing just how complicated was for his mother and Jada to come to terms with each other. He recently posted on Instagram a throwback pic from his childhood that features both of his moms and siblings Willow and Jaden, and he took the time to reflect about the “hidden context” of the pic on his caption:

“Change isn’t always easy...Especially when it’s not on your terms. But change is necessary for growth. Even if I didn’t know it then. I’ve always been surrounded by love. But there’s hidden context in this photo. When I look at it, everything falls into place... @shereezampino @jadapinkettsmith @c.syresmith @willowsmith #AcENation #InMyThoughts #blessed #family #TheSmiths.”

Trey, who like the rest of the Smith family is a thoughtful young man, also shared another pic from the “Red Table Talk” conversation between Jada and Sheree, explaining that, for him, that is just “the kitchen table.”

"At my table, sits my two FIRST RESPONDERS. These two beautiful WOMEN @jadapinkettsmith and @shereezampino redefined strength for me," he added.

REALIZING SOMETHING ABOUT HIS DAD

Not enough with that, Trey recently made his father held back tears while enjoying a father-son trip to Abu Dhabi for the F1.

Smith, who’s still celebrating his 50th birthday, shared an emotional video on Instagram wearing a bathrobe while resting on his hotel room. He explained that he was enjoying his time in Abu Dhabi with Trey when the boy suddenly said to him “You know what dad? I just realized you’re not just my dad. I’m pretty sure you’re my best friend.”

Smith was trying hard to contain his tears, as he recalled what he replied to Trey: “I was like, ‘Whoo. Yeah, man. Probably. Probably.”

In the caption, the “Prince of Bel-Air” explained why Trey’s words were so significative:

“It has not always been like this between Trey & I. We STRUGGLED FOR YEARS after my Divorce from his Mother. He felt betrayed & abandoned. It is a Wild Blessing to recover & restore a Loving Relationship with My Beautiful Son! @treysmith0011.”

To this day, the Smith family is considered “goals” by people all over the world, and they have proven with acts that they ride or die for each other.
