Meghan Markle and Michelle Obama reportedly meet for the 1st time at 'power meeting' in London
Meghan Markle has touched base with Michelle Obama in a private meeting where they reportedly connected through their common interests.
Meghan Markle has finally met Michelle Obama privately following the former first lady’s book tour in London.
According to a source who spilled details to the Evening Standard, the two powerful women met when the Duchess of Sussex attended Obama’s promotional stop for her book, “Becoming” at the Royal Festival Hall.
The source said the women had the chance to discuss their common causes including their shared interest in empowering women and girls’ education.
They also touched on more personal topics such as pregnancy and raising children.
Though this is the first time they met, Obama acknowledged in her interview for the latest issue of Good Housekeeping that she and Markle have something in common.
“Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she'd have a life like this, and the pressure you feel — from yourself and from others — can sometimes feel like a lot.”
Drawing out from her own experiences, the “Becoming” author advised the duchess to “take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything." She also encouraged the royal to make the most of her capacity to influence others.
“What I’d say is that there’s so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that — and I think Meghan can [maximize] her impact for others, as well her own happiness, if she’s doing something that resonates with her personally.”
Markle is set to announce her upcoming projects and her assigned patronages by the new year. She could certainly use Obama’s advice as she engages in her new initiatives.
Reports suggest their recent meeting developed a bond between them and they’re expected to be in touch in the future.
