Snoop Dogg melts hearts while posing with both of his parents in rare photo together
Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr., famously known as “Snoop Dogg,” has never forgotten his roots despite his and fortune.
He recently shared a heartwarming photo with his parents, one of his children, and his mentor Quincy Jones after receiving one of the highest honors in Hollywood.
THE WALK OF FAME STAR
After two long decades in the entertainment industry, Snoop finally received his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
Of course, there is no better way to spend such a special time but with his family, who went out to support him during his special day.
Like any other Walk of Fame ceremony, there was a short program that took part, wherein his mentors and friends would say speeches to introduce him before he said one himself.
Before the rapper was introduced to receive his star, Quincy Jones, Dr. Dre, and Jimmy Kimmel all gave quick speeches.
Following that, it was the rapper’s time to thank everyone who made it all possible – including himself.
“I want to thank me for believing in me. I want to thank me for doing all this hard work. I want to thank me for having no days off, and I want to thank me for never quitting.”
While receiving the star in itself is such a great deal, it's also the fact that his parents, who rarely step out to the spotlight, made sure to be there during the event.
“I want to thank me for always being a giver and trying to give more than I receive.”
THE BROADUS FAMILY PORTRAIT
After the program, Snoop shared a photo alongside his son Cordell, Quincy Jones, his mom Beverly Broadus-Green, and his father, Vernell Varnado.
This was an especially big deal for him, as this is the first time his parents have agreed to be photographed together after their separation more than four decades ago.
Broadus-Green was still a young woman when she got pregnant with Vernell. After giving birth to their only child, Vernell, a Vietnam War veteran, left them soon after he was born.
While he wasn't present during most of Snoop's life, they eventually reunited when he was in high school and have since then had a close relationship.
However, the rapper never carried the last name "Vernell," because his mom decided to give him the last name of her late husband Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., who was responsible for taking care of Snoop with her when he was growing up.
AN EVANGELIST MOTHER
Growing up, Snoop Dogg was raised in a Christian home. However, after finding out that her most rebellious child was set on pursuing a career in hip-hop when he was a teenager, she just prayed for him.
“Once I was filled in about what was going on my reaction was, “You got to be kidding me!” I called Snoop as soon as I got home from work. Snoop said, ‘Mom this is something that I want to do.”
In the end, she is proud of the man he has become and said that through the years, he is a man of God and God has been positioning him.
With Mrs. Green being a famous evangelist and philanthropist who travels to preach to women and young girls, it comes as no surprise that she embraced being with her ex-lover for the sake of her child's accomplishment.
After all, they were not trying to look back on the past but celebrating a tremendous honor given to Snoop Dogg, and at the end of the day, that is what matters.
