The funeral for America’s 41st president, George H.W. Bush held on Wednesday at the Washington National Cathedral, and cameras caught a heartwarming moment between George and Michelle.

George was by the first pew to greet the presidents and former presidents. After shaking President Donald Trump, his wife Melania, and former president Barack Obama, George paused when it came to Michelle’s turn.
He reached into his pocket for a piece of candy and gave it to Michelle who smiled as she collected it and mouthed the words “Thank You.”

Only three months ago, the “partners in crime” in crime went viral after a clip of George passing Michelle a cough drop went viral. They were all at the funeral of the late Senator John McCain when George, 72, took the candy from his wife, Laura Bush, and passed it to Michelle, 54.
History will remember his son fondly too. This warms my ❤️

The “Becoming” author later opened up about the incident and described her relationship with George. “President Bush and I, we are forever seat mates because of protocol, that’s how we sit at all the official functions so he is my partner in crime at every major thing where all the formers gather," Michelle explained on the “Today” show, adding:
“We’re together all the time, and I love him to death. He’s a wonderful man. He’s a funny man. And it was a simple gesture. He was getting a cough drop from Laura, and I looked over, and I said, 'hand me a cough drop.' And he was like 'oh, okay.' And I will add that they were old cough drops. That’s the funny thing.”

In a later interview with George’s daughter Jenna Bush-Hager, Michelle admitted that she and the former president have disagreements, but despite their opposing political views, manage to remain civil and still care genuinely about each other.

Earlier this week, after news broke of George H.W. Bush’s death, Michelle took to Twitter to announce that she’d be delaying her book tour to attend the funeral and begged for her fans’ patience and understanding.
