Viewers mocked Meghan Markle for constantly cradling her bump during the last surprise outing

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to negative comments from social media users and reporters alike. Her recent appearance at the British Fashion Award was no different.

The Duchess recently made an unannounced appearance at the British Fashion Awards to honor Givenchy, who designed her wedding dress earlier this year.

Despite being pregnant Meghan dazzled in a floor-length black gown as she presented Givenchy with the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award.

GLITZ AND GLAMOUR

Viewers noticed that the Duchess was presenting the award she cradled her baby bump. Some found this endearing, but others saw it as an opportunity to criticize her.

The critics, or trolls as they have been called, commented that she should not hold her baby bump because the world is already aware that she is pregnant and her baby won’t fall off if she lets go.

However, many people defended her on social media saying that she can do what she wants and that touching her baby bump helps her to connect with her unborn child.

THE POWER OF SPEECH

The British Fashion Awards was not the first time that Meghan has made a public appearance in a black gown during her pregnancy. She also did so during a recent speech in New Zealand.

Her speech occurred on the country’s 125th anniversary of allowing women the vote. She spoke about what women’s suffrage means and symbolized for feminism.

In her speech she said:

“Suffrage is not simply about the right to vote but also about what that represents: the basic and fundamental human right of being able to participate in the choices for your future and that of your community.”
