Beloved Fox meteorologist, Jessica Starr, commits suicide at age 35

Jessica Starr, a meteorologist for WJBK-TV in Detroit has committed suicide leaving her friends and family in shock.

The death of Jessica Starr, 35, has been announced as a suicide. The meteorologist's colleagues expressed their shock and grief at her unexpected demise.

Morning news anchor Amy Andrews announced on Twitter that Starr has taken her own life on the evening of December 12, 2018.

"Her Fox 2 family is deep shock and cannot believe such a wonderful, bright and intelligent woman is gone. Keep her family in your prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief."

STARR HAD BEEN ON LEAVE FOLLOWING AN OPERATION

Starr had been on leave following Lasik surgery in October. Lasik is a surgical procedure that uses a laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism. Starr was away from work for several weeks, and had returned to her post recently, but was still struggling with dry eye following the procedure.

The meteorologist is survived by her husband, Dan, and her two children, son Noah, 5, and daughter Riley, 3. No further information regarding her death was released by the network.

STARR'S COLLEAGUES ARE DEVASTATED

Anchor Roop Raj expressed his bewildered grief by reaching out to Starr's family in a tweet expressing his condolences:

"It is with a heavy heart that I post this. Our dear friend and colleague Jessica Starr has died. She leaves behind a husband, two beautiful children and a loving family. I send my deepest sympathies to her family. Our hometown girl will always be remembered fondly."

A MICHIGAN GIRL ON FOX 2

Jessica Starr, a Michigan native, held meteorology degrees from Michigan State University and Mississippi State University. She had worked as a meteorologist at TV stations in Baltimore and Lansing before being hired by Fox 2.

It seems a frighteningly short curriculum for a young woman who had her whole life ahead of her. Condolences are being posted on social media by grief-stricken colleagues and fans of the lovely, bubbly blond girl with the radiant smile.

CELEBRITY SUICIDES SHOCK THE NATION

Jessica Starr joins the list of celebrities who have committed suicide when to all outward appearances, they had everything to live for.

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain was found dead on the 8th of June 2018 in his room in the Le Chambard hotel by his close friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert, the cause of death was declared to be suicide by hanging.

On the 5th of June 2018, designer Kate Spade was found dead in her New York apartment of an apparent suicide by her housekeeper. She had hanged herself from her closet door with the belt of her robe.

Starr, Bourdain, and Spade were apparently driven by despair into taking their own lives. All three left behind young children and grieving families.
