Taraji P. Henson's model son looks all grown up in recent photo his 'bloodies'

Taraji P. Henson is the proud mother of one grown-up son, and the young man inherited her good looks. Marcell Johnson is now 24, and he seems to have a deep respect for his family, as he proved in one of his recent photos.

The 24-year-old rarely uses Instagram, but when he does, he can gather thousands of likes in a matter of minutes. One of his most recent pics features a small part of his family, including his famous mother.

In the shot, which he seems to have screenshotted from another Instagram account, Marcell is wearing a black t-shirt, ripped black jeans and a red cap while posing in the middle of his family, with Henson by his side. The actress looks sharp in a printed long dress, sunglasses and a top bun.

“Always pay attention to who is present and genuinely involved in your life at ur hardest. Bloodies,” Marcell captioned the picture.

“Family is everything, enjoy your trip and Treasure the family time together,” commented one fan, and another added, “Love u, Marcell! Love the family pic!.”

AN TOXIC RELATIONSHIP

Marcell Johnson is the only son of Henson and the late William Lamar Johnson. The couple had an abusive relationship, as Taraji revealed in her book “Around the Way Girl: A Memoir.” Things got physical between them on several occasions, but one time that Johnson drew blood from Taraji she left him for good.

Despite their toxic relationship, Taraji stated in her book that William was the love of her life.

She never stopped Marcell from having a relationship with his father, and while he grew into a wonderfully well-adjusted young man, there was a time in Marcell’s teenage years where his temper got the best of him.

Henson recounted how, one time they were having a discussion, Marcell geared up as if to hit her. “You don’t want to do that, son,” Henson said. “See, you're not hood. You not ‘bout that life. Hit me. Please hit me so I can have a reason to take your ass out!”

Marcell, of course, realized his mistake. Still, Taraji ended up slamming the door on him, but they later reconciled.

William had tried to counsel the boy from a young age, telling him as young as nine-year-old to use his head. Sadly, the man didn’t get to see the young man Marcell has become.

WILLIAM'S MURDER

In January 2003, William was brutally murdered after he approached a couple that had slashed his friend’s tires. They hit him in the head with a lamp and then stabbed him repeatedly. Russell and Charlotte Nickelson went to jail for manslaughter, but only served 50 and 36 months, respectively.

Marcell was 9 when his father died. “He’s had to deal with life in a way that a lot of young kids haven’t yet,” said Henson of her son. “Do I mourn for him? Absolutely. I wish my son had his dad. But sometimes things line up, and they have to happen, and we don’t know why.”

Now that Taraji has a new man in her life and is engaged, maybe Marcell will have a fatherly figure to look up to.
