Prince Andrew shares royal Christmas card from 1964 featuring the Queen holding her newborn son

Prince Andrew is getting nostalgic this Christmas season with a throwback photo from his children shared on his social media.

The Duke of York took to Instagram to share a black and white photograph taken back in 1964, which was also used as the royal Christmas card that same year.

The snapshot was taken following the birth of Prince Edward and it features the newborn prince in Queen Elizabeth’s arms. Sitting beside them is Prince Philip, who is lovingly glancing at young Prince Edward.

Their other children, including Prince Andrew, who was just four years old at the time, Prince Charles, and Prince Anne surround the proud parents.

In one of the most idyllic royal photographs, Prince Andrew has really managed to win everyone’s heart with his adorable smile. He is also the only member of the royal family to be directly looking at the camera.

The caption to the photograph states, ‘Featuring a 4-year-old Duke of York, this photograph from [the Royal Collection Trust] was used as @theroyalfamily’s #ChristmasCard in 1964.’

The post has been liked almost 9,000 times and many supporters of the royal family have taken the time to comment on the photo.

One Instagram user expressed that the Duke of York looked ‘cute’ in the photograph. Another observed that Princess Anne looked ‘pretty.’

One comment that stood out was from a user named shawnhoffman63, who chose to talk about Prince Andrew’s relationship with Sarah Ferguson, the Prince’s ex-wife. The user wrote, ‘This year can we get a Christmas card with Andrew and Sarah together please?’

Prince Andrew was also recently on headlines in regards to his relationship with Ferguson, the Duchess of York.

A report from Express suggested that the royal fans are wishing for Andrew and Ferguson to reunite in the wake of the Duchess’s continued public show of support for her former husband.

Several reports have emerged over the years, which suggest that the pair still share a cordial relationship and a close bond even after two decades of their split.
