Melania's outfit finished up with a pair of Timberland combat boots. The internet did not take lightly to the shoe choice.

Many users let her have it in the comment section, calling the first lady "out of touch" for her choice.

Some considered it a (failed) effort after previous shoe choices also got critiqued in the past.

In his post, Donald's caption read:

".@FLOTUS Melania and I were honored to visit our incredible troops at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!"

Sanders provided more detail on the visit in her post:

“President Trump and the First Lady traveled to Iraq late on Christmas night to visit with our troops and Senior Military leadership to thank them for their service, their success, and their sacrifice and to wish them a Merry Christmas.”

The couple spoke to senior military leadership, National Security Adviser John Bolton and U.S Ambassador to Ira Doug Silliman in front of the media.

Two days before, Melania again turned heads with her outfit. This time, it was for good reason.

The first lady and her husband were at the White House taking calls for the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Santa Tracker.

Melania wore a long-sleeve black midi dress that showed off her legs. She sat in the State Dining Room talking to children about Santa on phone.

Donald looked appropriate in a black suit and red tie. However, Melana stole the show with her chic ensemble.
