Swizz Beatz 'passes out' from son's reaction to news that Alicia Keys is going to host the Grammys
Swizz Beatz' wife, singer Alicia Keys is over the moon that she’ll be hosting this year’s edition of the Grammys, but we can’t say the same for their sons. Their hilarious reaction to the singer’s news is captured in a video below.
Keys could hardly contain her excitement on Tuesday when she announced that she'd be hosting the 2019 Grammy Awards, but when the mom-of-two shared the good news with her kids, Egypt and Genesis, their reaction couldn’t have been any more different.
In a video posted by Swizz on Instagram, Keys is seen wearing a brown sweatshirt-and-pants set, colorful head-wrap and burgundy boots. She also sports a pair of tinted sunglasses, and as she approached her children in the kitchen area, said:
“I got some good news, guys. Guess what?”
After one of the boys asks what the news is, the “No One” singer said with a flourish:
“I am going to host the Grammys!”
Keys even expressed her excitement by gesturing with her hands, but the effect was lost on eight-year-old Egypt and four-year-old Genesis.
The two boys were silent for a while as their mom grew increasingly shocked, probably wondering why they were not more delighted.
Egypt continued playing with his toys on the floor, and as Keys walked away laughing, having given up on getting the expected reaction, he asked:
“What’s the Grammys?”
Swizz, 40, could not help cracking up over his children's reaction. Alongside his post and several Laugh Out Loud emojis, the producer wrote:
"Egy and Gen want to know what the #GRAMMYS are??? Genesis had me pass out."
One Instagram user also commented: “Kids truly humble you, no matter how BIG you get!”
Another wrote:
“Lol! Man kids really [know] how to keep you humble.”
Keys, 37, first announced that she’d been chosen to host the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, holding on February 10, in a YouTube video.
“I’m soooo EXCITED,” raved the 15-time Grammy winner. “There’s so much in store, and I CAN’T WAIT for y’all to see it ALL come to life.”
Keys added:
“I know what it feels like to be on that stage and I know what it feels like to be proud of the work that you’ve put in, and to be recognized for it. And I’m just feel grateful that I’m able to bring that light and that energy.”
