Nick Cannon gives emotional update on Wendy Williams, helping her shut down divorce rumors
After much speculation surrounding Wendy Williams’ health and marriage, Nick Cannon updated fans about the TV show host, revealing that he spoke with her on both topics and couldn’t help getting emotional.
Cannon, who is guest-hosting “The Wendy Williams Show” while Williams is on “a necessary, extended break,” kicked off his gig yesterday by sharing details about her health and marriage.
“I talked to her, and honestly, she sounded amazing y’all,” Cannon, 38, said. “Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect at first. But her spirit was so big; it was so amazing.”
MARRIAGE CRISIS?
Williams, 54, has been open about her Graves’ disease and hyperthyroidism diagnosis, but for a while now, there have been speculations that the TV personality took a break from her show because her marriage is in jeopardy.
Her husband, Kevin Hunter, was rumored to have gotten his mistress pregnant and Williams was allegedly distraught over the situation.
But Cannon shut down those rumors, revealing that he spoke with Williams’ family, including her son Kevin Hunter Jr.:
“You know what was also really awesome? I had a conversation with her and her whole family and she said she wanted to speak as a family unit. Her, I talked to Kevin, little Kevin, they said they all good. The love and the passion is still there ’cause that’s what you need in times like this is your family to stick together with you.”
CANNON & WILLIAMS GET EMOTIONAL
The father-of-three confessed that his conversation with Williams turned emotional when they discussed her health issues, mainly because he also has first-hand experience dealing with an autoimmune condition like Graves’ disease.
“When I spoke to her she just said she feels y’all love; you know what I mean? And she knows that there’s probably a lot of questions that haven’t been answered and stuff,” Cannon shared. “But as someone who also deals with an autoimmune condition -- I was diagnosed with lupus before -- I know when you go through these things and these flair-ups and stuff, you never know.”
“It’s day by day, y’all. You know, you one day could be a strong day and the next day you can’t even get out of bed,” he added.
THE TIME WILLIAMS DISRESPECTED CANNON'S SON
Cannon said that despite having a rocky relationship with Williams over the years, he has nothing but love for the “queen.”
Only last December, the controversial TV host earned the wrath of netizens after she called Cannon’s third child, two-year-old Golden, an “oops baby.”
At the time, Cannon and his ex-girlfriend, Brittany Bell, who is Golden’s mother, fired back at Williams’ comment and made it clear that their son was in no way, a mistake.
MORE HEALTH COMPLICATIONS
It appears all is forgiven between Williams and Cannon now and the latter was announced as the show’s guest-host last week. Cannon is slated to hold down the forte from the 4th-6th of February.
Williams sparked health concerns two months ago after viewers noticed she was sitting throughout the show. She also fractured her shoulder and revealed she’d be taking time to recuperate during the holidays.
Originally scheduled to resume live taping on January 7, Williams was unable to make it, and by January 19, her family announced that she was going to be admitted due to complications from Graves’ disease.
Get well soon, Wendy Williams.
