American men mock Adam Levine’s bizarre tattoos, and their hilarious photos are going viral

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the most watched parts of Super Bowl Sunday, with many viewers tuning in specifically to see it. This year Maroon 5 was the act chosen to perform. Their lead singer, Adam Levine, caused a lot of controversies.

During the performance, Adam chose to take off his shirt, which revealed his tattooed chest and arms.

Pictures of this have been doing the rounds on social media, which has caused many people to mock his body art.

TOO MANY TATTOOS?

While he has scores of tattoos on his neck, back, and arms; it is those on his chest which are being discussed the most. The tattoo that is explicitly being mocked is the one that says “California” above his navel.

Men across America have been parodying this by writing their home state’s name in Sharpie above their belly buttons and posting comparison pictures online.

The trend has even gone so far that a special Facebook page was created to get entries from as many men as possible in America. The name of the page is “Real Men in America.”

In an earlier interview, Adam justified his tattoo as a way of honoring the state he grew up in, and many of the parodies draw from that.

HIDDEN MESSAGE

Adam’s tattoos were not the only source of media attention from the Maroon 5 Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. The band’s lead singer, Adam Levine, caused controversy when he took off his shirt to reveal his bare chest.

The reason for this is that Janet Jackson accidentally exposed one of her nipples during the 2004 Halftime Show and received backlash for it, as there is a rule that no performers may show their nipples at the Super Bowl.

Many people criticized the organizers for being hypocrites because they allow men to show their nipples, but not women.

However, while people were in shock after Adam removed his shirt a message was displayed in the sky in the form of individual words spelled out using paper lanterns. Many people missed this as the controversy did not make them think to look up.
