The 28-year-old mother from Drenthe, Netherlands could not believe her eyes when she discovered that her daughter, Alexis, had cut off her long blonde hair, as reported by Pretty 52.

"At first, I thought it was funny, but then I was mad as she knows better than to do that. Then I felt heartbroken as we had been growing her hair for so long.”

Serena, who works at a zoo, didn’t expect the result of her sending Alexis off to her to grandparents’ house for a sleepover.

The girl got hold of a pair of scissors and played with it by cutting off her long blonde locks. She was only left alone for a few minutes when the disastrous haircut occurred.

Serena was left with no option but to shave off her daughter’s hair to get rid of the mullet.

MOTHER THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE

“I’d just sent Alexis off to her grandparent’s house for the night for a sleepover,” Serena said. “The next morning, I got a call from them telling me that she had managed to cut all of her hair off.”

She added: “I thought they were joking. But then I realized they weren't, and it was really happening. Apparently, she had got a hold of a pair of scissors and just went crazy. It all happened in a matter of minutes.”

The little girl’s grandparents were shocked to see blonde hair all over the house.

"At first, I thought it was funny, but then I was mad as she knows better than to do that. Then I felt heartbroken as we had been growing her hair for so long,” Serena said.

She added that she couldn’t help but laugh at seeing her daughter’s mullet hairdo. “It’s quite a unique look,” she said.

A HEART-WARMING HAIRCUT STORY

In a related story, an eight-year-old girl decided to cut her long hair for a cause.

Estefanía Cabrales had not cut her hair since she was born, but a video about children suffering from cancer led her to make the decision to cut it.

"She saw a video of the boys, she asked why they did not have hair, and I explained to her, I told her that it was for the remedies, and I also told her that they made her wigs, so she told me that when I cut her hair she also wanted it to donate," the girl's mom, Micaela Ramírez, said.

Her first haircut was for children with cancer.
