Ciara and Husband Russell Wilson Praised for 'Praying Together' in New Photo

Ciara and Russell Wilson traveled to Brazil to celebrate the carnival. There, the couple visited one of the seven wonders of the world and showed their strong faith by praying together in a new Instagram pic.

Ciara and her quarterback husband flew to Rio de Janeiro to embrace the carnival celebration in a well-deserved vacation with no kids in sight.

The couple has been enjoying the warmth of the exotic South American city by walking around the graffiti-filled streets, going all the way up to the Sugarloaf Mountain peak, and of course, visiting the Christ the Redeemer statue, one of the seven wonders of the world and a symbol of Christianity across the globe.

Ciara documented the visit with a lovely photo, which shows the couple kneeling in front of each other and praying together with the impressive statue in the background.

Ciara rocked a black dress, and Wilson wore polka-dotted shorts, a white t-shirt and gray sneakers.

“A Family That Prays Together,” Ciara captioned the photo.

FANS’ REACTIONS

Fans of the “Level Up” singer took over the comment section to praise the pair for being an exemplary couple that uses faith as the pillar of their marriage.

“I absolutely love this. I love the foundation of their marriage unity,” wrote one user.

Another added, “A man who shows his humility, gives a woman strength to show her vulnerability....you two are so strong together.” And a third one chimed in to say:

“You two are lovely family @ciara God bless you.”

However, among the positive comments, there were also many fans criticizing the couple for praying in front of a “concrete idol,” an image of what many consider the “white Jesus.”

“Please get off Ur knees praying to that white Jesus...They really did a number on Us,” said one angered commenter. And another agreed,

“I thought you @ciara was smarter than this! Is this for likes or what? I still love you but Sis this ain’t it! Do you know what that statue actually represents.”

LEAVING HER LIFE IN GOD’S HANDS

The 33-year-old mother of two has always been open about her faith, and she even confessed to Essence a few years ago, that she prayed for a man like Russell to come into her life after her failed relationship with rapper Future.

Having a family was always in the singer’s plan, but being a single mom was not part of her vision. “The moment I realized I was going to be a single mother, I had to reflect and reorganize my thoughts. I decided to trust that God had a plan for me, and move forward one day at a time,” she stated.

Less than a year later, Ciara and Wilson made their relationship public. She recalled:

“I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me. I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all.”

Three years later, it seems like her prayers were fulfilled. Now, she shares daughter Sienna with the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, and he loves her son Future Zahir as if he was his blood.

“God knows everything that’s to come in the future, and I think it’s best to let him keep taking control of things,” Ciara once said of her family life. “Life is sweet, and I’m very thankful for all the great things happening in my life. I’m very happy.”
