Cher Once Sang with Her Mother on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' and Their Voices Are so Alike
Georgia Holt is a gorgeous 92-year-old singer, and she sounds just like her famous daughter, Cher.
Seen promoting Holt’s new album, Cher and her mom, Georgia Holt sang together on The Ellen Show. The pop icon is 72-years-old and looks and sounds so much like her mother.
The album called “Honky Tonk Woman” is actually a 30-year-old, never-released recording from the 80s found hidden in Georgia’s garage. It includes a duet by Georgia and Cher called, “I’m Just Your Yesterday”.
Georgia married six times. John Sarkisian, whom she married and divorced twice, is the father of Cher. In the documentary, “Dear Mom, Love Cher”, the pop icon talks about the childhood she and her sister, Georganne had, and how their mom alone took care of supporting them, despite the many men in her life. Georgia also did her best to help Cher pursue her career in music.
Cher says of her mother,
“My sister and I are proud of our mom, and we want to share her with the world. My mom is exactly like Rocky. She never gives up!”
Cher’s career has spanned six decades, and she’s not slowing down. Last year, Cher took the role of Meryl Streep’s mother in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”. She also released an album called “Dancing Queen” performing covers of many of her favorite ABBA classics. The Goddess of Pop shares,
“After filming ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking ‘why not do an album of their music?’"
Her modern music video for her remake of the ABBA hit, “SOS”, was recognized for its empowering message by showcasing a cast of women showing support for one another.
