Body of Unidentified Young Girl Found in Duffel Bag near Los Angeles Equestrian Trail
The body of a young girl believed to be between the ages of eight and 13 years old was found near an equestrian trail.
Lieutenant Scott Hoglund told ABC News on Wednesday that her body was found in Hacienda Heights by county workers.
Police released a sketch of the girl, as well as a picture of the duffel bag. She was found wearing grey pants and a pink long-sleeved sweater and was not wearing shoes.
There were no obvious signs of trauma and officials cannot say at this stage if she was dead before being placed in the bag.
The girl is described as "African American and thin, standing 4 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 55 pounds."
Her death is being investigated, but details are sparse. Authorities asked the community to assist in any way possible.
Anyone with information pertinent to the case is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
