27-Year-Old Woman Became a Stepmother to Her Best Friend after Marrying Her Twice Older Father

She married her best friend’s father despite their huge age gap.

Taylor, 27, and Kern Lehman, 54, are now often compared to Hollywood couple Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, as reported by Mirror.

Taylor admitted that she felt guilty at first being in a romantic relationship with her best friend’s father.

Both from Phoenix, Arizona, Taylor and Kern met at a bar five years ago. They did not expect their flirtations to end up in marriage.

They crossed paths through her best friend Amanda, 30, who is Kern’s daughter.

The couple said they have many similarities, including their love for music, traveling and partying. They now have been living together as a married couple for more than a year.

THEIR FAMILIES WERE SHOCKED AT FIRST

It was not easy for Amanda at first, having to consider her best friend her stepmother. But the three now get along again. Other family members have also come to accept their relationship.

"When we first met, I worked with Kern's daughter, she was my best friend and he was married at the time,” Taylor recalled. “I was also in a relationship. At first I thought he was very handsome. I have always been attracted to older guys. He thought I was cute, and we started flirting at the bar.”

Taylor admitted that she felt guilty at first being in a romantic relationship with her best friend’s father.

“But over time I have gotten over that. She knows I will always be there for her in her life and problems,” she said.

She continued, “Kern is very handsome, and I adore how he carries himself, he's so educated, smart and successful. Our similarities between Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, I think are more apt for me than him. They have a similar age gap to us. She is brunette and he has silver hair, like us, but Kern is way better looking than Michael Douglas.”

NOT UNCOMMON

Relationship with huge gaps is not uncommon in Hollywood. Actress Sarah Paulson is married to actress and playwright Holland Taylor, who is 32 years her senior.

The couple went public with their same-sex relationship in 2015. In the media storm that followed the big reveal, the two women were graceful and largely ignored what anyone else thought.

The couple are still going strong, and people still have an opinion about it.

“If anyone wants to spend any time thinking I’m strange for loving the most spectacular person on the planet, then that’s their problem,” Sarah said. “I’m doing just fine.”
