Steve Harvey Heats up Talk after Slamming Those Who Refuse to Quit Job after Winning the Lottery
Steve Harvey got fans talking earlier this week when he slammed folks who refuse to quit their jobs after winning the lottery.
During a segment of his eponymous show, the TV host/comedian revealed what he would do if he ever won the lottery.
In a clip from the show shared to Instagram on March 11, Harvey addressed the audience:
“You know what really disgusts me, though? You ever hear when people win large sums of money in the lottery and then they say something stupid like, ‘I’m not gone quit my job.’ What? You got a $168 million. You’re going to work for what? What do your job pay you? That don’t make no sense. Not only am I gonna quit my job, I’m gonna hire an airplane to sky-write a message in the air over my job! ‘Steve Harvey not coming in today. Why? Because he just hit the lottery. Everybody can kiss my rich, black–‘ you know the rest of it.”
Judging by the laughter and thunderous applause from members of the audience, Harvey was speaking the mind of many.
MIXED REACTIONS
Most social media users expressed similar sentiments in the comment section, but there were a few who clapped back at the funnyman:
“The MINUTE we confirm the win, we have financial person & attorney in place & I know for sure checks are rolling into our accounts - I QUIT!!” ~@vamccall

“@stevetvshow Steve it depends on your job. If it's kids that are really in need and they depend on you it doesn't matter about the money anymore and it's the support”~ @123msboss

RELIVING THE PAST
Most people may find Harvey’s point of view inconsistent because he’s known how it feels to have nothing and is probably one of the busiest people in today's Hollywood, working as a TV/radio host, motivational speaker, comedian, author, and producer.
While speaking in Dubai at a forum for industry stakeholders, Harvey, 62, went down memory lane to the days when he was homeless.
“I was not a good student. My gift has nothing to do with school,” he said. “I was homeless for three years; I lost everything twice. But now I’m in Dubai.”
Now said to be worth no less than $120 million, Harvey can afford to go on regular vacations with his large blended family.
HEALTH COMMITMENTS
Beyond making controversial statements, the “Think Like A Man” author is also paying more attention to his health and commenced a vegan diet in January.
The credit for that goes partly to Beyoncé, who in collaboration with her personal trainer Marco Borges, has been promoting the plant-based diet in recent times.
Harvey recently had Borges on his show where he enlightened the audience about going vegan and shared his progress report so far.
“I have the cholesterol levels of an infant. My cholesterol numbers are lower than my cardiologist’s cholesterol numbers. You can eat your way healthy. You are what you eat.”
