Her last appearance on the popular talk show will air on August 2. Gilbert, 44, said she was nervous because leaving "is hard to do." She added:

"I’m starting to develop more things to produce, and I’m having opportunities to act, and I’m just feeling like I don’t know how I’m going to do it."

Gilbert promises to return as co-host every once in a while and joked that the audience wouldn't be able to get rid of her that easily.

She explained that there's hardly enough time to get to all the "small things in [her] life." Gilbert also intends to spend more time with her wife, Linda Perry, and their children.

She said the cast and crew have made her tremendously happy over the years, and Gilbert said she loved all aspects of the talk show:

"It’s difficult because this is a place that I love and a place where I’m extremely happy. I love the hosts; I love the crew. I love our staff; I am so grateful to the audience for letting me in your homes every day."

Gilbert promises to return as co-host every once in a while and joked that the audience wouldn't be able to get rid of her that easily:

"It’s been such an honor. I’m not going anywhere yet; I’ll be here the rest of the season. I will come back as co-host, you’re not going to get rid of me. I’ll be around."
