Joke: Elderly Couple Advised by Doctor How to Restore Their Memory

Almost everyone has a senior in their life that has a difficult time remembering things. Some of us are already beginning to feel our memories slowly fading away.

The next joke hilariously examines how memories are affected with age, and what works and what seemingly doesn't. Now if they had only listened to the doctor...

A couple in their nineties were both becoming noticeably forgetful. During a checkup, the doctor told them that they were physically okay, but might want to start writing things down to help them remember.

Later that night, while watching TV, the old man was hungry and got up from his chair. Before leaving, though, he turned to his wife and asked, "Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?" he asked his wife.

"Could you get me a bowl of ice cream?" she replied.

"Sure," he said.

Knowing all the problems that he has had with his memory lately, she asked: "Don't you think you should write it down so you will remember?"

"No, I will remember it," he replied confidently. He even felt insulted by such a silly question.

"Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so as not to forget it?" she suggested again. This time, she was sure he wouldn't remember it.

He said, "I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries."

"I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that - write it down," she said.

Her husband had enough. Clearly irritated, he said, "Jesus! I told you I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!"

Then he toddled off into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, the old man returned and handed his wife a plate of bacon and eggs.

She stared at the plate for a moment and then asked:

"Where's my toast?"
