Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Mother Brenda Jackson Dies of Cancer at 65

Brenda Jackson, famed race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s mother and a longtime employee at JR Motorsports passed away after a battle with cancer.

JR Motorsports posted the news on Monday and confirmed that Jackson was 65. Her career at the company spanned 15 years, but racing had been a larger part of her life.

Jackson's father was NASCAR fabricator Robert Gee. Jackson married Dale Earnhardt Sr in the early seventies, and the couple had two children – Dale Jr. and Kelley.

After her divorce from Earnhardt Sr, Dale Jr and Kelley founded JR Motorsports, and Jackson joined the team as an accounting specialist in 2004.

Apart from racing, Jackson was also passionate about gardening, fashion, cooking, and home decorating. She was involved in numerous charity organizations but always put her family first.

Jackson is survived by her second husband of 33 years, William J. Jackson Jr, her children Dale and Kelly, as well as her grandchildren and stepchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hazel May Overton Clark and Robert Edward Gee, as well as her sister Sandra.
