Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, has announced plans for a bio-musical based on the story of “Destiny’s Child” and his experiences as a co-creator and manager of the iconic girl group.

For many years, Knowles managed the singing career of his daughter and other girls in "Destiny's Child," and now, the 67-year-old is set to re-enact what it felt like in a production titled “Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical.”

Knowles made the big announcement on his website, revealing that he’s teaming up with writer/producer/director Je’Caryous Johnson for the project.

“Destiny’s Child” is no longer a group today and Knowles no longer manages his daughter’s career, but he and Beyoncé...

Per Knowles, “Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical” will start its roller-coaster tale at the point of humble beginnings and travel through a captivating storyline addressing the layers of evolution – good and bad – that he faced during his pioneering climb into the music industry.

“I want to pull back the curtain,” he explained, adding that the musical will tell the story of his victories and failures:

“I feel it’s time to give the world an opportunity to hear, see and feel the victories and failures that I’ve had as a husband, father and manager who risked everything in pursuit of fulfilling dreams – those of mine and others.”

Johnson, the theater veteran behind stage productions such as Snoop Dogg’s “Redemption of a Dogg” and “Set It Off Live,” expressed his excitement to be telling a “unique and inspiring story” alongside Knowles.

Johnson noted that he is committed to telling the stories of legends and helping to reinforce their legacy, but “Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical” means more to him.

“As a native Houstonian, I have a special affinity for Destiny’s Child because we are from the same city and it is one that breeds greatness!” he said before offering an assurance:

"I can assure their fans and mine that I will give everything I have to this story and will make sure it is the greatest show they ever experience!”

“Survivor: The Destiny’s Child Musical,” described as a “mix of music, dance and beautiful imagery” is set to premiere next spring in Houston with plans for Broadway, London’s West End and a world tour.

“Destiny’s Child” is no longer a group today and Knowles no longer manages his daughter’s career, but he and Beyoncé are on good terms.

Knowles and Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Lawson, finalized their divorce in 2011 but remain friendly exes and reunited last year at their daughter’s “On The Run II” tour.

The former couple are also parents to singer, Solange Knowles.
