Beyoncé's dad reveals that backstage reunion with singer and her mother Tina was a surprise

Mathew Knowles surprised his daughter at the final tour stop of her recently concluded “On The Run II” tour, and his ex-wife, Tina Lawson was also there. The trio posed for a cute photo, and Mathew has now shared their reaction to the visit.

Mathew was pictured backstage with his daughter and ex-wife after catching the two women off-guard, but the talent manager says the gesture was an “act of pure love.”

In the video found below, Mathew, 67, narrated the touching moment to TMZ.

“It was a warm and positive moment. I went out to Seattle. It was the last show of the tour, and I wanted to surprise her by bringing her a dozen lovely red roses,” he shared, adding:

“I sat in the dressing room area. She didn't know I was out there, and Tina was out there, and some other folks were out there, and Beyoncé came up, and there I was! And she gave me this huge hug that only daughters can give to their dads. It was more of her being surprised that I was there."

Mathew also revealed that Beyoncé initiated the idea to take a picture with both parents. “It was important to her and important to all of us,” he explained. "We've never been enemies. I've always had nothing but positive words to say about Tina.”

TMZ also reported that the family had met earlier on in the tour when the “Flawless” singer stopped over in their hometown of Houston.

That meeting had been kept off social media, but Beyoncé wanted to share this one with the world. She shared a photo where she was flanked by both parents, and Tina took to Instagram to share another one where she and Mathew kissed their daughter.

The former “Destiny’s Child” manager revealed that Beyoncé wrapped up her tour with mixed feelings.

“She was happy that the tour was over, and she was sad that the tour was over because she would miss so many of her fans.”

Mathew and Tina divorced in 2011, following a string of cheating accusations leveled against the music entrepreneur. The same year, Beyoncé fired him as her manager, and their rocky relationship became the focus of media publications for a long time.

With photos from Mathew’s surprise visit, however, it looks like everyone has moved on. Tina, 64, married actor, Richard Lawson in 2015, and Mathew married his second wife, Gena in 2013.

Mathew and Tina are also parents to Beyoncé’s younger sister, Solange.

NEW BEGINNINGS

Meanwhile, Richard, who tied the knot with Tina on board a yacht, revealed in an interview that he chose to ask for her children’s blessing before marrying their mother.

“I thought that that was important, because I knew without that, based upon the fact that Tina lives for her children, that it didn’t stand a chance unless they were on board. I was fortunate enough that they were completely on board and just over the top excited about it.”
