Eve Gets Candid about Her Struggle to Conceive
During a recent episode of “The Talk,” Eve opened up about her struggles while trying to conceive a child with her husband, Maximillion Cooper, and the emotional toll that it has taken on her.
Rapper, actress and TV host, Eve, it’s not afraid to come clean about her struggles, as long as she’s able to help someone else.
The 40-year-old recently opened up about her fertility issues, as part of a segment on “The Talk” where every panelist got to share some of their most personal struggles, hoping to let other women known that they’re not alone.
“Obviously, I’ve talked about my struggle with getting pregnant and I didn’t talk about it for a long time because I felt shameful,” Eve revealed to the audience. And continued:
“As a woman, you just think things happen naturally, and I felt like I was damaged. I felt like I was broken. I felt like, oh maybe I wasn’t good enough… it’s a very sad hurtful thing, but the more I held onto it the worse I actually felt about it about myself.”
Despite the feeling of shame and disappointment, Eve admits that she has received the love and solidarity from other women since she first shared her desire to have kids with her husband.
"We are trying, for anyone who is asking, but it's up to God. Just stop asking."
“Since I’ve shared, people have been so sweet to me,” she said. “Even in the audience, people have come to me and hugged me and said ‘you deserve it, it’s going to happen for you.’”
Eve, who married Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper in 2014, is the stepmother to his four children from a previous relationship.
Although she confessed to having zero experience with kids before meeting Cooper, when asked if she was looking forward to being a mom in 2016, she said:
“We can’t wait to have kids of our own. Whoever is in charge, make it happen. I can’t wait.”
The following year, she admitted on “The Talk” that she was tired of people questioning when would she conceive a baby.
“I am so sick about people making a big deal about women's ages," she said. "They don't do this to men. My 39th birthday is (soon), and the one question that I get is, 'How old are you again? Oh, you don't have any kids...' And I'm like, 'You heard me say how old I am.'"
Eve revealed at the time that, although she was trying to get pregnant, it is inappropriate for people to ask, saying:
"It annoys me because one of my friends, a male, said to me, 'When are you going to give my friend some kids?' No one should ask that. We are trying, for anyone who is asking, but it's up to God. Just stop asking."
Eve and Maximillion will celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary in June. And despite not having a baby on the way yet, the couple seems to be enjoying their fairytale-like relationship so far.
