The youngest child of the “Beverly Hills, 90210” star now has a permanent mark on her forearm to keep her late father present at all times, and its design holds a very special meaning.

18-year-old Sophie Perry is the only daughter that actor Luke Perry left behind after passing away on February 4, 2019, aged 52, as a consequence of a massive stroke, and she thought of a beautiful way to honor him recently.

Sophie, who currently works as a relief volunteer in Malawi, took to her Instagram stories early in May to share a video showing a mushroom-themed long tattoo on her right forearm, and she explained the meaning behind it to her followers.

A STRONG SYMBOL

“The mushroom is symbolic of my dad,” Sophie said about the mushroom head with a long stem she had tattooed all the way up from her wrist to her inner elbow.

Mushrooms are often associated with life after death for the role they play in decomposing the remains of living organisms, in a way fusing them back into the earth, and this was an idea the late actor found inspiring.

The tattoo on Sophie’s arm is not the only homage to Luke that the teenager has thought of. Back in April, she announced the opening of her first preschool in Malawi, and it was named after her beloved father.

Despite Luke’s sudden death, the “Riverdale” star had made plans for his burial, and he opted for the most recent eco-friendly way to put his body to rest. His body was covered in a mushroom suit that is harmless to the environment.

“My dad discovered it, and was more excited by this than I have ever seen him. He was buried in this suit, one of his final wishes. They are truly a beautiful thing for this beautiful planet, and I want to share it with all of you,” Sophie wrote.

Since then, mushrooms “hold an entirely new meaning” for her, as she explained in a caption for an Instagram post featuring a photo of several mushrooms growing in a San Francisco natural reserve.

“Any explanation I give will not do justice to the genius that is the mushroom burial suit, but it is essentially an eco-friendly burial option via mushrooms,” Sophie elaborated.

HONORING HER FATHER'S NAME

The tattoo on Sophie’s arm is not the only homage to Luke that the teenager has thought of. Back in April, she announced the opening of her first preschool in Malawi, and it was named after her beloved father.

“School is officially in session folks!” Sophie captioned a photo of the facility and its young students. “Bvucco ‘Luke’ PreSchool” can be read on the outside wall of the community school.

LUKE PERRY'S LEGACY

Sophie’s father will forever be remembered for his portrayal on the bad boy with a heart of gold Dylan McKay for all 10 seasons of the 90s hit series “Beverly Hills, 90210.”

But a younger audience might better recognize him for his last TV role on the drama series based in the “Archie” comic books, “Riverdale” on which he starred as character Fred Andrews.

Soon before Luke’s passing, news of an upcoming reboot of “Beverly Hills, 90210” had taken fans by storm, but the actor had not signed on to be a series regular, due to his commitment to “Riverdale.”

Nevertheless, he was expected to appear on the show a few times as a guest star, but sadly he could never get to do so.

"I am absolutely heartbroken. Luke was a tremendous force in the lives of so many," his former co-star Gabrielle Carteris, told TMZ about the actor’s sudden death.
