Jenny McCarthy's Son Evan Shares Photos from His Prom Night
The model and actress’ only son is 16 years old already, and he recently attended his Prom Night, as we can see on his Instagram feed. He looks very grown up and handsome in his tux.
Evan Joseph Asher was born on May 18, 2002, son of actress and former “Playboy” cover girl Jenny McCarthy and actor/director John Asher. He was diagnosed with autism at an early age, and has improved a lot recently.
Evan treatment at UCLA has proven to be of great help in the recent past, and he has improved his speech and sociability much, as his Instagram account shows.
PROM NIGHT
The teenager took to social media early in May to share pictures from a special moment in everybody’s life: his prom night. He appeared to be having a great time as he took pictures with one of his friends.
Wearing a dark blue tuxedo, complete with a rose on his lapel, Evan looked amazing. It was a departure from his more casual style. Days away from turning 17, he is looking more like a young man than a child.
The post received more than 3.000 likes in a couple of days, and Evan received many comments from followers complimenting him on his looks and overall supporting him.
HIS MANY INTERESTS
Evan has many interests. He is passionate about animated films and has grown to be an excellent swimmer. According to his parents, he is fascinated about door hinges, what could be a sign of a future as a mechanic.
Since his condition was discovered, Evan left California for a Chicago suburb called Geneva, where his parents considered he was going to have a greater quality of life than in the fast-paced Golden State.
The move appears to have been key to his social interaction, and nowadays he has many friends, whom he likes to call “The Goonies.”
He even has his own YouTube channel about videogames in collaboration with two friends, called “Gaming USA.”
The three teenagers recently released their first movie in the video sharing platform, titled “The Cookie Hero,” with Evan playing the role of “an evil scientist named Dr. Scott Ramirez.” You can watch it here.
Evan’s parents divorced in 2005, not long after he started to show the first signs of autism. McCarthy married for the second time in 2014, to “Blue Blood” star Donnie Wahlberg. Xavier and Elijah Wahlberg are Evan’s stepsiblings.
AUTISM AWARENESS
Evan’s diagnosis was life-changing for McCarthy, who has become an advocate for autism and has worked with several organizations, including Talk About Curing Autism and Generation Rescue, founded by her.
She has been the subject of controversy for her views on children being vaccinated, something she reportedly has linked to Evan’s autism.
McCarthy has released several books on the subject of raising a child in the autism spectrum since revealing her son’s diagnosis publicly in 2007. Some of her titles include “Louder than Words: A Mother’s Journey in Healing Autism” and “Mother Warriors: A Nation of Parents Healing Autism Against All Odds.”
