Jenna Bush Hager Reveals Late George HW Bush Cried over Her Daughter’s Name
The late George H.W. Bush had tears of joy after learning that his granddaughter named her child after him.
Jenna Bush Hager shared the heart-warming moment in an interview with TODAY.
“Poppy, my wild 3-year-old, was named after her great-grandpa, my grandfather," Jenna said. "So, I FaceTimed my parents, who were with him, and I said, 'Gampy, meet Poppy.' He was not expecting it, so he cried.”
Jenna, who is married to Henry Hager, said the beloved former president was deeply touched.
“And of course, I cry at like Teacher Appreciation Day commercials (so) I'm, like, crying over the baby and Henry's kind of like wiping the baby's face off because there's like tears in the baby's mouth," she continued.
QUALITY TIME WITH THE BUSH PATRIARCH
Bush died in November last year at the age of 94, but he had spent quality tie with his great-granddaughter and namesake.
Jenna, who is pregnant with her third child, posted a photo on Instagram of Poppy and Bush on his 92nd birthday.
"The best anniversary gift from my husband: pictures from 10 years ago of my grandparents at our wedding. A reminder: Life is precious and goes by fast.”
Jenna, who has a massive following on Instagram, has been public about her family affairs.
In one memorable post, she shared a throwback photo of the wedding gift she received from her husband on their 10th anniversary last year.
"BEST ANNIVERSARY GIFT"
Jenna and her husband, Henry, were married at her parents’ ranch in Crawford, Texas.
Jenna and Henry first met during her father’s presidential campaign in 2004. They were engaged three years later.
She took to social media to let her followers know how thoughtful her husband is and that she was overwhelmed with his sweet gesture.
"The best anniversary gift from my husband: pictures from 10 years ago of my grandparents at our wedding. A reminder: Life is precious and goes by fast,” she wrote.
Another set of photos showed her daughters with their grandfather, former President George W. Bush, and their grandmother.
