Tika Sumpter Shared Rare Pic of Her Glamorous Mom on Mother's Day

Tika Sumpter pays tribute to her mother, Janice in a heartfelt greeting on Mother's Day. She enumerates the things her mother taught her and tells her "You're the epitome of a mother."

Tika Sumpter honored her mother’s strength in a special Mother’s Day tribute she shared with her fans.

"THE EPITOME OF A MOTHER"

In 2016, Tika’s mother, Janice Acquista was arrested for an overdue library book and the actress took offense. For her, that petty incident doesn’t change the fact that Janice Acquista is an exceptional woman.

On Mother’s Day this year, Tika made sure to let her mother know how much she adores her and told her she’s the “epitome” of what all mothers should be.

A black and white photo of Janice graced Tika’s Instagram along with a heartfelt message of thanks.

“Mommy you already know. You taught me love, perseverance and strength without uttering a word,” the 38-year-old wrote. “You’re the epitome of a mother. Thank you. Everyday.”

THE STORY BEHIND HER MOTHER'S ARREST

Tika was furious when she learned her mother had been arrested for a mere library book. She took to Twitter to express her dismay and wrote, “An overdue book should NEVER result in a warrant.”

But fans would later learn the story behind the arrest. The Johnston County Sherriff’s Office revealed Janice issued a bad $10 check for her library membership. A warrant sent to her at the time the check bounced was never received by the 65-year-old because it was sent to a rental property she owned. This led to her surprise at her eventual arrest.

LIKE MOTHER, LIKE DAUGTER

Tika has always been proud of her mother as evident in her previous posts about her. In June 2018, she shared an image of her beautiful mom dressed in lace and wrote, “My mommy, Yes mother.” Fans noticed the actress’ uncanny resemblance to Janice who looked young and fit in her figure-hugging dress and short do. Tika certainly inherited exceptional genes from her.

In November, Tika reminded fans of how much she appreciates her mother by featuring a photo of the two of them in her Instagram and lauding her “fighter” mom for what she’s done for her family. She also credited her mom for who she is today.

Tika is a mother herself to two-year-old Ella with her longtime partner, Nicholas James. No doubt her mother’s influence is strong in the way she raises her child.
