Sara Gilbert Pays Touching Tribute to Wife Linda Perry for Helping the Homeless in Her New Speech
Sara Gilbert is proud to have Linda Perry as her wife and pays a touching tribute to her for her kind heart and hard labor helping the homeless.
“My wife’s guilt over having money when others didn’t mean that she looked for ways to help them...and as she’s made more money her over-generosity hasn’t changed,” Sara Gilbert said about her wife Lisa Perry.
They were in the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, which helps provide the tools and training required to help the homeless and poor to get back into work in Los Angeles, California. The annual outdoor event was celebrated in the Brentwood Hills and hosted by two amazing women who broke down barriers.
The Hollywood community turned to help as usual, including iconic songwriter, music producer, and performer Linda Perry and film and television producer Suzanne Todd. Both women received the Spirit of Chrysalis Award from the organization.
For the past ten years, Linda has written songs for the widest variety of performers; from Adele, Alicia Keys, Dolly Parton, Weezer, The Dixie Chicks, James Blunt to great pop stars such as Pink, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani, they all had something to say and she helped them find the words to do it.
Gilbert is a 44-year-old former child star and has been Linda’s wife for five years. She said the benefit raised over $ 1.5M that evening. The two-time Daytime Emmy winner originally met with the 54-year-old Grammy nominee in 2011 through a yoga instructor, and now they share her four-year-old son Rhodes Emilio.
In 2011, after breaking up with her partner of 10 years Allison Adler, Sara announced in The Talk that there was a new woman in her life, Lisa Perry. She shares two sons with her ex; Levi Hank, born to Allison in October 2004, and Sawyer Jane, born to Sara in August 2007.
The couple decided in 2013 to take things seriously and Lisa took the first step by asking Sara to marry her. They got married in 2014 in an intimate ceremony in Malibu, California, on a special night that was filled with love, family, friends and of course, a lot of music.
They welcomed their first child, Rhodes Emilio in 2015. The couple was sure to have a baby of their own despite also raising Sara’s two sons. "I knew when we got married that Linda needed a baby, that's why we were a family - the four of us - she needed to follow a little soul from day one," Sara said.
After nine years in The Talk, Sara announced her retirement from the series, she expressed that she had too many things in hand to deal with them.
However, she remains in Roseanne (now The Conners) with new acting and production opportunities ahead waiting for her. In the meantime, Sara hopes to spend more time with her wife Lisa and their three children, who are their priority.
