Miley Cyrus Posts about 10th Anniversary with Husband Liam Hemsworth to End Break up Rumors
The “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” singer shut down rumors of a breakup with her husband as she commemorates 10 years since they started dating while still teens.
26-year-old singer and actress Miley Cyrus has a bittersweet relationship with her fans and the media at times, and she is never afraid of talking back at them while always conserving her signature irreverent humor.
It’s been 10 years of an on and off relationship with 29-year-old Australian actor Liam Hemsworth that ended up with the two getting married in December 2018, meaning that the two have had to hide/offer explanations to the press about their romance for the same number of years.
SHUTTING DOWN THE RUMORS
Cyrus must have been fed up with insisting rumors about she and Hemsworth splitting just months after their wedding when she took to Twitter to mark the anniversary, and she “dedicated” it to the people spreading those rumors.
“Happy 10 year anniversary my love. Good to see everyone is as dumb as they were in 2009! Some things never change… & I hope the way you feel about me is one of them,” the star tweeted on June 11.
In another post, the former “Hannah Montana” actress looked back at how much her feelings for Hemsworth grew since he caught her eye when the two played a couple in “The Last Song,” released in 2010.
“Started diggin you in 2009 @LiamHemsworth,” Cyrus wrote, adding one two images of herself and her beau from back then. “[It] got deep. Happy anniversary,” she finished, adding a diamond ring emoji.
AN ON-OFF RELATIONSHIP
The newlyweds became engaged back in 2012 for the first time, but then they had second thoughts about it, the two being so young, and they eventually called the engagement off and briefly took separate ways.
“I don’t think I realized what 19 truly is, and I got engaged at 19, and I definitely wouldn’t change being engaged. It was so fun wearing a fat rock for a few years. But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy,” she shared in 2013.
In 2017 the couple confirmed that they were together once again, with Cyrus dedicating her song “Malibu” to Hemsworth.
“They’re going to talk about me if I come out of a restaurant with Liam. So why not put the power back in my relationship and say, 'This is how I feel'?" she told Billboard. The rest, as they say, is history.
Aside from her relationship status, Cyrus was recently subject of another controversy surrounding her Instagram post in support of Planned Parenthood, which featured a cake that read “Abortion is Healthcare.”
THE CAKE CONTROVERSY
Cyrus received a huge backlash over the image after netizens found out that the pop star had appropriated a design by Rea-Holloway, whose Instagram account “thesweetfeminist” is full of cakes with political messages written on them.
After being called out by fans and following a public complain by Rea-Holloway, Cyrus took to the comments section of the Instagram post by the DC-based cake dresser to credit her and apologize to her.
Nevertheless, Rea-Holloway remains unsatisfied, and she told the Washingtonian that she approached Cyrus’ team requesting compensation for the trouble.
