Grandma Mary Duggar’s Cause of Death Finally Revealed by the Coroner

The “Counting On” family matriarch, Grandma Mary Duggar’s death is confirmed to be an accident after attending church on Sunday, confirms Washington’s County Coroner.

Recent headlines reported Marry Duggar’s demise on Sunday without details on her cause of death. It was later revealed that the “Counting On” family matriarch died of an accidental drowning at her home in Springdale, Arkansas.

Washington County Coroner Roger W. Morris confirmed that the 78-year-old accidentally slipped into the pool and drowned. At 4:37 p.m., medics responded to a “possible drowning” at Duggar’s home, Radar Online reported, although the claim is yet to be confirmed.

The Duggar family announced the heartbreaking news through their official page on Sunday, hours after their grandmother’s passing. The family wrote:

“We are so sad to share that Grandma Duggar (Mary) passed away Sunday afternoon, June 9th, 2019. Mary Lester Duggar grew up in Farmington, Arkansas and was married almost 50 years to J.L. (Jimmy Lee) Duggar who preceded her death.”

Duggar is survived by 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, yet there are many more great-grandchildren coming, all of whom she was excited to meet.

The post included Duggar’s Christian faith, which she committed to at the age of 15, asking “Christ to forgive her for her sin.” She lived out Christian teachings and shared how others too could be forgiven and live a life as a Christian.

After her passing, members of the Duggar family honored their late grandmother through touching posts on Instagram. Jana Duggar spoke about the last time she saw her grandma, hours before she drowned.

“On her last morning spent here on earth I drove Grandma to church where she worshiped her Savior,” she wrote on Monday. “Later that afternoon, she went to meet Him face to face! I’d say that’s probably how she would’ve chosen to finish out the day if she got to pick.”

Joy-Anna and her husband, Austin Forsyth, also posted a touching tribute, recalling their grandmother as a “strong woman, role model, and oddly counselor,” who appeared on “19 Kids and Counting” and “Counting On” frequently.

Jill Duggar Dillard also penned a heartfelt letter to the “feisty, incredible woman” who never grew tired of preaching about Jesus. Indeed, Mary Duggar will be missed by her family, friends, and fans.
