Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Spotted in Matching Tiaras While Celebrating Their 33rd Birthday
The famous TV Twins of the 90s are making us all feel old now that they have turned 33, and images of the two wearing matching birthday girl tiaras at their discreet celebration have surfaced online.
“Full House” alums Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen turned 33 years old on June 13, and the two were spotted and photographed in New York City as they arrived at a local restaurant to have dinner with their close friends.
The twin sisters choose to wear matching tiaras that read “Birthday Girl” on them, as paparazzi photographs allow us to see.
Both of them wore black, as they often do, with Mary-Kate wearing a t-shirt, jeans, and heels, and Ashley opting for a dress, to which she added a brown coat on top.
Mary-Kate’s husband 50-year-old Olivier Sarkozy and his daughter from a previous marriage also attended the celebration, with Ashley’s boyfriend 30-year-old Louis Eisner present as well.
The Olsens’ birthday outing comes ten days after the two were last seen together in a public event. They attended the CFDA Fashion Awards early in June, taking the Accessory Designers of the Year home.
The child-actresses-turned-fashion-designers are no strangers to being awarded by the industry, having won the Womenswear Designer of the Year both in 2012 and in 2015 and the Accessory Designers of the Year in 2014 and in 2018.
After spending their entire childhood in front of the cameras, Ashley and Mary-Kate grew up to be very private women, basically giving up acting and staying away from the spotlight and social media.
The Met Gala and the CFDA Fashion Awards, though, are two annual events that the sisters never miss, and they always attend together, both as business associates and as inseparable twin sisters.
Ashley and Mary-Kate have been fashion enthusiasts since their early teenage years, and fashion became their ultimate main interest, with the two building a billionaire business out of it for the last 15 years.
Starting with a junior clothing line for Walmart, they eventually launched the brands The Row and Elizabeth and James, staying true to the philosophy of trying not to associate their brands with their names and celebrity status.
"We sold it at first with no label. Only certain people knew it was us behind it. We didn't do any press. Our idea—because we had been in the branding industry for a very long time—was 'If the product's good, it will sell,'" Mary-Kate once revealed.
Apart from a personal passion and business, fashion has been important for the sister’s self-expression, and even when the two have similar tastes, the way they dress has served for them to be told apart from one another.
While Mary-Kate is more experimental and risky in her choice of outfits, Ashley is more classic, but the two have found the perfect balance between their tastes to create their signature brands and to look great together.
