Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Make a Rare Public Appearance Rocking Matching Black Suits
The Olsen sisters look spectacular as they make an unusual appearance at the 20th anniversary of the Youth America Grand Prix in New York City.
It was a delight as the Olsen twins stepped on the red carpet in matching black outfits. While Mary-Kate spiced her dress up with a pair of red heels and a piece of gold anklet, Ashley rocked a pair of lengthy wide pants that covered her shoes; The sisters wore minimum make up.
The sisters are more often than not off the spotlight as they usually have their hands full due to their hugely successful fashion empire. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen both co-own two clothing lines, “The Row” and “Elizabeth & James.”
Being fashion icons, their style is a blend of a high-fashion meets aesthetics. While “The Row” named after Savile Row, a street in Mayfair, London was launched in 2006, Elizabeth & James which is more concentrated on womenswear was launched the following year.
The former child stars were as young as six months when they began their acting career. As toddlers, they took on the role of Michelle Tanner in ABC’s sitcom, “Full House” in 1897. They interchangeably portrayed the Michelle Tanner Character until the show ended in 1995.
As their acting career soared, the Olsen twins landed roles in movies such as, “To Grandma’s House We Go,” “Double Double,” “Toil and Trouble” as well as “Two of a Kind,” another ABC sitcom.
Towards their teenage years, the twins began to lean towards the world of fashion. Theirs was a unique style popularly referred to as “ashcan” or “bohemian-bourgeoisie.” The style mainly consists of oversized clothing items mixed with high-end and low-end fashion items.
As teenagers, the twins were very popular and their fame extended to fashion items such as shoes, makeup, magazines, and fashion dolls.
The 32-year-old fashion icons have made more than a name as they have also garnered awards through their innovative fashion. In 2012 and 2015, the twins were named Womenswear Designer of the Year by the “Council of Fashion Designers of America.”
Their careers as actors earned them the title of the first twins to receive a joint star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame back in 2004.
Ashley is unmarried while Mary-Kate is married to a French banker, Olivier Sarkozy.
