Djimon Hounsou on Tough Father's Day, Allegedly Hasn't Seen Son 'in Forever'
Djimon Hounsou expressed his frustration to reporters when asked about how his Father's Day went. He was evidently disappointed as he told reporters he couldn't recall the last time he saw his son with Kimora Lee Simmons.
Is trouble brewing between Djimon Honsou and Kimora Lee Simmons? This was the question raised by TMZ when it chanced upon the actor who appeared piqued about not having seen their son in a while and capped by a disappointing Father’s Day.
“It would have been nice to see my son for Father’s Day.”
WHAT "WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE" ON FATHER'S DAY
Hounsou and Simmons who share 10-year-old Kenzo seemed to have no problems between them in the past when it comes to co-parenting their child. This is why it comes as a surprise when the actor reacted negatively when asked how his Father’s Day went.
He told TMZ which caught up with him outside an LA building, “It would have been nice to see my son for Father’s Day” and added that he would have appreciated the chance to talk to him at least.
When further prodded about the last time he saw his son, Honsou held up a hand and replied, he “can’t even recall.”
“Listen, bro, it's no custody battle. I'm not in a lawyer's office, am I?”
"NO CUSTODY BATTLE"
Regardless of his sentiments, Hounsou was clear about one thing, he was not fighting for custody of his child. He said this when a reporter continued to question him on his way out of the building.
“Listen, bro, it's no custody battle. I'm not in a lawyer's office, am I?”
He was also hesitant to comment when asked what his message was for Simmons. Instead, he snickered and left.
Earlier this month, the “Aquaman” star paid tribute to Kenzo on his 10th birthday and alluded to not being able to spend it with him.
A SHOUT OUT TO OTHER FATHERS
Though Father’s day was quite disappointing for the star this year, he didn’t let it pass without a shout out to all fathers. He also shared a photo of him and his son. It’s unclear when the snap was taken but we suspect it wasn’t recent considering his latest reaction.
The last time Honsou and Kenzo were photographed publicly was in December at the "Aquaman" premiere. They were joined by the actor’s rumored girlfriend and Simmons’ son with current husband Tim Leissner, Wolfe.
CELEBRATING KENZO'S 10TH
Earlier this month, the “Aquaman” star paid tribute to Kenzo on his 10th birthday and alluded to not being able to spend it with him. “I miss being with you today and everyday,” he wrote to accompany a photo of the young boy during a birthday celebration in his home. No doubt, it was sent by either Kenzo or his mother to the actor.
NO SIGNS OF ANIMOSITY BETWEEN HIM AND SIMMONS IN THE PAST
It’s unclear why Hounsou seems to be having trouble seeing his son lately since there were no signs of trouble between him and Simmons in the past. The pair were together for five years from 2007 to 2012 and even participated in a Benin commitment ceremony. After they split, there were no headlines alluding to problems regarding the custody of their son and he even remained close to Simmons’ other children.
The last time Honsou and Kenzo were photographed publicly was in December at the “Aquaman” premiere. They were joined by the actor’s rumored girlfriend and Simmons’ son with current husband Tim Leissner, Wolfe.
He also shared photos of them in March taken in London.
If that was the last time he saw Kenzo, then it would mean it’s been months since the father and son connected. A long time indeed. Here's hoping they get a chance to catch up soon.
