This Is What Caused the Death of Toni Braxton's Niece Lauren at 24
The cause of death for Toni Braxton’s niece Lauren has been revealed, and the 24-year-old did not die from a pre-existing heart condition as was previously claimed.
The Braxton family was thrown into mourning when Lauren Braxton, the daughter of Toni’s younger brother Michael Conrad Braxton Jr., passed away in late April.

Following Lauren’s death, Michael Jr. revealed that his daughter – affectionately called Lo Lo – had a pre-existing heart condition that was connected to her death, but an autopsy report from the medical examiner's office in Maryland has now identified the cause of death as heroin overdose and fentanyl intoxication.
According to E! News who broke the news, the manner is still undetermined.

On April 29, Lauren was reportedly found lying on the kitchen floor by a witness who had just spoken to her a few minutes earlier. The witness called 911 and the fire department and paramedics responded, but it was too late. Lauren was soon pronounced dead.
Following her death, Lauren’s aunts mourned her in several heartbreaking social media posts. Toni, who is Michael Jr’s elder sister, shared a picture of Lauren wrapping an arm around her and wrote:
“R.I.P to my amazing niece Lauren “Lo Lo” Braxton. I’m still in disbelief and so very heartbroken. Love you...always auntie ‘Te Te’”

“LoLo was more than my niece,” Michael Jr’s younger sister, Traci Braxton also told Daily Mail in a statement. “She was my daughter; and I, my son and husband are truly heartbroken over her passing.”
Trina and Towanda also shared touching tributes to the late young woman, but the story was quite different with their youngest sister, Tamar.
The “Braxton Family Values” star came under fire shortly after Lauren’s death for claiming she was too “drained” to attend her niece’s funeral.
“I don’t want my sisters or my family to get upset with me but. …I don’t have time going to the funeral. I’m still drained from that. It’s a lot,” Tamar said in a live video where she also urged fans to be at her show.
Tamar’s statements earned her massive online backlash, but she only responded with a picture message that read: “PSA: Please don’t tell people how to heal from something you’ve never been through.” Tamar, however, posted a moving birthday tribute to Lauren, who was mere days shy of her 25th birthday at the time of her death.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Braxton family during this difficult time.
