Tamar Braxton Posts Moving Birthday Tribute to Her Late Niece
Tamar Braxton paid tribute yesterday to her late niece, Lauren “LoLo” Braxton after coming under fire for saying she was too drained to attend the young lady’s funeral.
Fans were outraged earlier this month when Tamar, 42, implied she wouldn’t be attending Lauren’s memorial service because she’s “drained” while promoting her upcoming performances in the same breath.
Judging from her birthday tribute to the late young woman, however, it seems Tamar did go to the funeral eventually. Alongside a picture of two unidentified objects in color purple and green, the “Braxton Family Values” star wrote:
“We all faught [sic] over your favorite color!! U were for SHO in that conversation!! Happy 25th babygirl!! We all turned up for u yesterday and sent wishes for u with balloons in the sky! PURPLE wins!! With a hint of green... your spirit filled the room with a hint of ‘whatcha know bout me’ happy birthday Lo. Miss u bunches.”
TRIBUTES FROM THE BRAXTON SISTERS
Tamar was not the only one who paid tribute to Lauren on what would have been her 25th birthday. Big sister Toni also took to social media with a video of her late niece lip-syncing to a song and made a sad confession.
“Today, I am sad, but I’m gonna shake it off and celebrate her life,” said the “Unbreak My Heart” singer. “I love you, and I miss you, Lo Lo.”
Trina and Towanda Braxton also celebrated the life of Lauren, who was laid to rest a day before turning 25.
FAMILY TRAGEDY
Lauren, the daughter of the Braxton sisters’ brother Michael Conrad Braxton Jr., passed away on April 29, reportedly from a pre-existing heart condition.
The entire family was immediately thrown into mourning and fans all over the world sent in their condolences. On the contrary, Tamar’s reaction to the tragedy had fans fuming and slamming her on social media.
TAMAR'S REACTION
The former “Celebrity Big Brother” winner was on tour with Kandi Burruss’ “Welcome to the Dungeon” tour when news of Lauren’s death broke.
In a subsequent live video, Tamar urged followers to come out for her performance but claimed she was “drained” when it came to going to her niece’s funeral.
“I don’t want my sisters or my family to get upset with me but. …I don’t have time going to the funeral. I’m still drained from that. It’s a lot,” she said in the video
SOCIAL MEDIA OUTRAGE
“Get your [expletive] up and go to the funeral for 2 hours then get back in your bed,” one person shot back, according to MadameNoire. “I’m not hearing this excuse.”
“If you are so drained performing should be last in your mind,” retorted another. “I will NEVER respect or support you if [you] feel money & ppl watching you is more important than being with family that needs your presence.”
Responding to the backlash, Tamar reposted a picture that read: “PSA: Please don’t tell people how to heal from something you’ve never been through.”
