'Real Housewives of Potomac's Ashley Darby & Husband Michael Welcome a Baby Boy
Ashley Darby is finally a mom! The “Real Housewives of Potomac” star, who has suffered two miscarriages in the past, recently welcomed her first child with husband, Michael Darby.
Ashley, 31, kept fans updated throughout her pregnancy, and when her baby boy made his grand entrance on Sunday, July 7, she wasted no time sharing the good news on social media.
Taking to Instagram with an adorable photo of herself sleeping in the hospital bed while her husband cradled their son on a nearby couch, Ashley wrote:
“I never thought this day would come. When I learned I was pregnant, I started thinking about when I'd feel the first kicks. Then, when I was feeling the flutters, I wanted to know when I'd finally start to show. After watching the bump grow, my mind went to birthing day (WILL THIS REALLY HAPPEN?!) And when the day finally came that this sweet child came into our world, it felt like the sunniest day after a sky filled grey.”
HAPPY MAMA
“The most sensational day of our shared life,” she continued. “Mickey and I are savoring every moment with our wonderful son.”
Ashley later shared their son’s unique name with PEOPLE – Dean Michael Darby – and revealed that he weighed in at 8 lbs., 1 oz. “Michael and I are overwhelmed with joy and love,” she told the outlet. “Dean is absolutely perfect. We couldn’t be happier.”
ANNOUNCING THE HAPPY NEWS
Ashley and her 59-year-old Australian hubby first went public with news of their pregnancy in February when the star was five months along.
“It was a surprise,” she recalled in an interview with PEOPLE. “We found out in the beginning of November, and I had just been healing out of it, and I thought I was getting sick because of the change of season.”
A PAINFUL PAST
Per Page Six, Ashely revealed on the Season 3 reunion of RHOP that she and Michael previously suffered a miscarriage, but it wasn’t her first.
“I had one when I was in my early 20s, so now I’m worried if something is going on with my body,” the Bravo star reportedly told Andy Cohen. “But I feel like it kind of brought [me and Michael] closer together in a way that I didn’t really expect.”
It’s no surprise then that baby Dean’s arrival felt like the “sunniest day after a sky filled grey” for Ashley who married Michael in 2014. Michael has two children in their 20s from a previous marriage.
BRAVO BABY SEASON
Meanwhile, it’s been baby galore for the Bravo family in the last couple of months. First, it was “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kenya Moore welcoming a daughter, Brooklyn, last November. That was followed by Bravo boss Andy Cohen’s son Benjamin, who was born in February via a surrogate.
Like Ashley, “RHOA” star Porsha Williams became a first-time mom in March after previously suffering a miscarriage, and most recently “RHOA” newcomer Eva Marcille announced in May that she’s expecting her third child.
Congratulations again to "The Real Housewives of Potomac's" Ashley and Michael!
