Daily Joke: An Older Man Comes to a Jewelry Store with a Beautiful Girl to Buy 'Something Special'

Relationships and the role jewelry can play in them is the topic for today’s dose of funny. While one man made the best of his weekend another prevented a sticky situation with quick thinking.

On Friday afternoon, Donald, a balding, white-haired man walked into a jewelry store with a beautiful and much younger woman by his side. After a friendly greeting by the jeweler, Donald told the man that he wanted a special ring for his girlfriend, Janice.

The jeweler looked the couple over for a moment before he said, “I have just the ring for you,” and pulled out a dainty $5,000 ring.

Donald gave the ring one look and said, “No, I’d like to see something more special.” The jeweler gave an understanding nod, went to his special stock and brought back a stunning and prominently set diamond ring for $40,000.

When Donald saw Janice’s eyes sparkle with excitement, he said, “Yes, we’ll take it.” The jeweler asked Donald how he would like to pay for the ring while Janice could hardly contain her joy.

“By cheque, please. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds; I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon.”

On Monday morning the jeweler angrily phoned Donald and said, “ Mr. Blackburne, there is no money in that account.”

“I know,” Donald replied, “But let me tell you about my weekend.”

Tom went to a jewelry store he carefully chose during his lunch hour to buy his mistress a bracelet. The store had a variety of beautiful pieces and it took a while to make up his mind, much to the dismay of the jeweler.

He chose an expensive diamond and ruby bracelet, and happy to finally be wrapping a gift, the jeweler asked, “Is this for your wife?”

The doorbell went off as someone entered the shop, and as Tom turned to look, he saw his approaching wife, who looked delighted at the sight of him in the store.

“It is now,” Tom replied.
