Mother Who Ordered Cake for Daughter with Her Nickname on It Got 'Happy Birthday Loser' Instead
Melin Jones was caught by surprise after her custom cake for her two-year-old’s birthday read “Happy Birthday Loser,” instead of “Happy Birthday Lizard.”
Melin Jones from Missouri was in for a big surprise as she had a dedication cake made for her two-year-old daughter, Elizabeth’s, birthday. She went to a local Walmart cake shop and requested for the dedication to say “Happy Birthday Lizard” -- her child’s nickname.
A LITTLE SURPRISE
After paying for the cake, Jones rushed home to her daughter, leaving the cake unnoticed. It wasn’t until she stepped out of her car that she read the dedication, which said, “Happy Birthday Loser.”
“I was a little shocked, but after a few seconds, I couldn’t stop laughing,” she told PEOPLE. “I had no clue they got it wrong. I was in a hurry, and it seemed like a simple enough request. I wasn’t really expecting anything to be wrong with it.”
BEST CAKE EVER
Fortunately, her daughter did not know how to read yet; and so having a cake in front of her still made her happy, especially after seeing the colorful confection design. Jones took a photo of Elizabeth with the cutest reaction to her cake.
“[My husband and I] proudly ate that ‘loser’ cake, then [I] marched right back to Walmart a few hours later and got another one,” she added. “I didn’t mention the misunderstanding because I didn’t want the worker to get in any trouble.”
The original post was taken down after Jones posted it on September to avoid trouble for the Walmart employee. However, she decided to post it again a few months after, seeing as it was something to look back at and laugh at.
BIRTHDAY CAKES
Cakes have become a staple at birthday’s, especially for kids, which is why it is so important to make it beautiful and right to put a smile on their faces. Earlier this year, 4-year-old Isaiah had a sweet birthday after his country-singer mom, Carrie Underwood, gave him a “most dangerous frog” cake.
The idea sparked after Underwood saw how her son loved the movie “Muppets Most Wanted.” The colorful cake was posted on the singer’s Instagram account and made her son’s birthday celebration “extra special.”
