La La Anthony Praises Carmelo despite Cheating Scandal after Alleged Team USA Snub
La La Anthony expressed her support for her estranged husband, Carmelo Anthony in response to his exclusion from this year's FIBA World Cup. There's nobody better than him according to her.
In spite of their separation and the cheating scandal that led to it, La La Anthony remains Carmelo Anthony’s number one fan when it comes to basketball.
HOLDING A TORCH FOR HER ESTRANGED HUSBAND
TMZ caught up with La La sans her wedding ring at Lax and quickly got her opinion about Carmelo’s exclusion from this year’s Team USA roundup for the FIBA World Cup.
Despite their estrangement, La La stuck to the facts where Carmelo’s sports prowess was concerned.
“Out of respect, they should [invite him],” the mother of Carmelo’s 12-year-old son suggested and added, "Who was a better Team USA player than he was? Nobody."
La La was speaking the truth considering Carmelo’s track record as a consistent team member in the past. He holds the record of the most number of games played (31 in all) and the only one in Team USA who’s played in four Olympics.
He’s also the first to win 3 gold medals and currently holds the distinction of the second-highest scoring player in FIBA Americas Championship games.
La La believes an invitation should be extended to the 35-year-old despite not knowing if he would be interested in accepting. “I’m not saying he wants to play or he doesn’t want to play,” she clarifies.
THE SCANDAL THAT LED TO THEIR ESTRANGEMENT
The 40-year-old has been pondering divorce since news of Carmelo cheating on her hit headlines in June coinciding with her birthday.
The basketball player was spotted on a yacht in the South of France with model Sara Smiri who he later claimed was married and denied having an affair with.
“You can look at the glass half-empty or you can look at the glass half-full, you know… I just push through and stay positive and always remind myself that it could be worse."
STAYING POSITIVE AMID THE DRAMA
La La responded with a statement saying she was in “legal discussions” to determine the next steps in their relationship.
She emphasized that she and Carmelo would continue to be committed to rearing their son, Kiyan together. In fact, they were recently spotted having dinner and watching Kiyan’s basketball game.
While trying to figure out what’s best, La La is keeping a positive mindset and maintains she’s in a happy place.
“You can look at the glass half-empty or you can look at the glass half-full, you know… I just push through and stay positive and always remind myself that it could be worse, like, I’m living my dream and I’m really happy where I’m at in life right now,” she told People during the Essence Festival.
She also revealed her plans to take time off and be with her girlfriends and that it was going to be a “Hot Girl summer” though she wasn’t definite about where they were going to have it.
La La truly deserves this break after the scandal that hit her right smack on her birthday.
