"Speak your truth and speak it LOUD!" This is what Angela Bassett had to say to Afton Williamson, who called out her recurring guest star and hair department head on "The Rookie" for sexually assaulting her and racially discriminating her.

Angela Bassett made sure to let Afton Williamson know that she had her full support following her decision to name her abusers on an Instagram post earlier this week, saying she was proud of the actress for speaking her truth.

On Instagram, Bassett left a comment on Williamson's post, saying: "I'm SO proud of you and stand COMPLETELY in support of you. Speak your truth and speak it LOUD! xoAB"

The Controversy

Williamson announced that she would not be coming back for season 2 of her TV show, because throughout filming the first season, she was racially discriminated and bullied by executive producers. She adds that she was also sexually harassed by a guest star, which ultimately led to her quitting the show.

She, later on, revealed that it was her guest star Demetrius Grosse who sexually harassed her, while Sally Ciganovich, hair department head, would racially bully her and later on sexually assault her at their wrap party.

On Supporting Black Women

With Angela Bassett being proud of her Black roots and her advocacy to let this known to the world, she wants to be able to do so for other women. The same way she is respected as a prominent actress in Hollywood, she wants others to be treated the same way.

That is why it comes with no surprise that she would come to Afton's defense, even going so far as to let her know that whatever it is her next steps are, the "Black Panther" actress is right behind her every step of the way.
