Meghan Markle Sincerely Supports Close Friend Serena Williams at US Open Final in New York

Meghan Markle's actions blew minds over the weekend as she flew across the world to support her close friend, Serena Williams, at the US Open Final in New York.

While Meghan Markle's critics might frown at half of the things she does, they can't deny the fact that the Duchess of Sussex is a great friend to her loved ones, especially tennis star, Serena Williams.

SHE FLEW HALFWAY ACROSS THE WORLD TO SUPPORT WILLIAMS

Markle flew halfway across the world on a last-minute commercial flight on Friday, from London to New York, to ensure she made it in time to support Williams at the US Open final, against Bianca Andreescu.

In a video post shared by US Open Tennis Twitter page, the Duchess looked beautiful and chic in a $118 denim shirt dress by J.Crews. She draped a light gray cardigan loosely over her shoulder and seemed anxious as the match between Williams and Andreescu progressed.

IT'S MARKLE'S FIRST TRIP WITHOUT HER SON

At the beginning of the match, Markle joined the crowd to give a standing ovation to the mum-of-one. The former actress sat behind the tennis star's husband, Alexis Ohanian, and was surrounded by Williams' family, including her sister, Venus Williams.

The trip to New York marks the first time the new mum is traveling outside the UK without her son, 4-month-old Archie, and her husband, Prince Harry. A royal insider revealed that Markle made the trip because she was excited to support her friend, and went with only her security team.

MARKLE AND WILLIAMS ALWAYS SUPPORT EACH OTHER

The last-minute plan shows the devotion the former "Suits" actress has towards her friend, whom she cheered on during Wimbledon in July. Since the two became friends after meeting and hitting it off at a SuperBowl party in 2010, they've been inseparable.

Markle once wrote that they forged a connection talking about "Good old girly stuff," and calls Williams her closest friend.

The tennis star and her husband got invited to the Duchess' and Prince Harry's May 2018 wedding, and in February, the 23-Grand Slam winner hosted a baby shower for the then-pregnant former actress at the Mark Hotel, in New York.

In a 2017 interview, Williams said about her friendship with the Royal,

"We've always supported each other; just being there for each other through a lot." She added, "[Markle] is such a great friend and a great person as well. And always positive no matter what."

From all indications, the friendship between these two will continue to thrive, which is a good thing as Williams needs all the support she can get after losing her opportunity to get a record-breaking 24th grand slam title to Andreescu.
