'Breakfast Club' Host DJ Envy and Gia Casey Open up about Recently Suffering a Miscarriage

DJ Envy and his wife, Gia opened up about the difficulties they went through in order to conceive their sixth child only to be disappointed when Gia miscarried.

Having babies was never a problem for DJ Envy and his wife Gia Casey. Five kids sprung out of their eighteen-year marriage without much ado. However, their attempt at a sixth child proved to be tough.

Envy and Gia opened up about their difficulties conceiving in a recent episode of their podcast, “The Casey Crew.” According to Envy who described his wife’s first five pregnancies as “not a problem,” the sixth was “a little more difficult.”

The couple revealed that they tried about everything to conceive but it didn’t work.

“We did the fertility stuff, we found out when she was ovulating, I was trying to smash on that date,” Envy recalled. “Usually I touch Gia, she becomes pregnant- not a problem. Bang! 1, 2, 3! But for the sixth one, it was a little more difficult. So we tried the ovulation kit, and it didn’t work.”

Gia added that after going through “a drought” with the kit, they tried IUI (intrauterine insemination). “That did not work,” she revealed. “Then we moved on to in vitro,” she narrates. “We did one cycle of that, and ended up with a negative pregnancy result.”

After two failed rounds at in vitro which Envy noted was “expensive as [expletive]” they decided to stop trying and rely on the idea that “God has another plan.”

“That miscarriage made me fearful of going through several weeks of happiness and hope and prayers, and just being euphoric that you’ve achieved what you’ve wanted.”

But to their surprise, without even trying, Gia got pregnant after a month.

“Yes, I was pregnant,” the 40-year-old confirmed. “And I regret to use the word, was,” she added revealing she had a miscarriage after.

“At about six weeks, when I went in for another ultrasound…there was no heartbeat. But, you don’t necessarily have to have a heartbeat at six weeks. But the baby was measuring about a week behind in size…[and] at the seventh week there must be a heartbeat…lo and behold, there was no heartbeat…”

It wasn’t Gia’s first miscarriage. She had one before her pregnancy with their daughter, Brooklyn which made her fear getting pregnant again.

“That miscarriage made me fearful of going through several weeks of happiness and hope and prayers, and just being euphoric that you’ve achieved what you’ve wanted,” she said.

Her latest miscarriage just relived that fear all over again.

In spite of this trial, Gia and Envy are happy parents to two sons and three daughters. They’ve also weathered an episode of infidelity when Envy was reported to have been cheating on Gia with Erica Mena in 2013.

Gia confessed to hiring a divorce attorney after that but did not push through with it. Envy has since expressed regret over his actions and declared his undying love for Gia.
