GMA: 'Spirit' Singer Beyoncé's Dad Mathew Knowles Reveals He Has Been Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Beyonce and Solange Knowles' dad, Mathew Knowles, sits down with "Good Morning America" to speak about his current battle with breast cancer.

On a teaser video for the latest "Good Morning America" episode, Mathew Knowles is seen opening up about his battle with breast cancer. While it did not reveal any details, the interview with Michael Strahan hints on how Knowles has been fighting cancer and how he broke the news to his family.

While breast cancer in male patients is rare, taking up less than 1% of all cases around the world, its mortality rate is a lot higher than for women. Male patients diagnosed with breast cancer are often between the ages of 60 to 70, and Mathew is put smack in the middle as he is currently 67 years old.

Mathew Knowles is best known for helping his children, Beyonce and Solange Knowles, skyrocket to fame. He was Destiny's Child's manager, and this meant knowing all the ins and outs of their careers. Even now that he's no longer connected to his daughters' professional lives, he continues to give interviews that reveal bits and pieces of their past.

Recently, Knowles revealed that after all these years, there's still an unreleased Destiny's Child album that's waiting to be put out. In fact, he hints that the secret album may be released in time for the launch of "Survivor: The Destiny's Child Musical."

Knowles adds that the songs add synergy to the book and musical and that he owns the rights to the unreleased album.

Knowles' Family Life

Mathew was once married to Tina Knowles-Lawson for 31 years before it ended in divorce after news emerged of his child out of wedlock. Both of them went on to remarry, with Mathew getting married to Gena Avery in 2013, and Tina getting married to Richard Lawson in 2015.

Aside from famous daughters Beyonce and Solange, he is also the dad of Koi Knowles, and Nixon Knowles, whom he had after his divorce from Tina.

Now that he's suffering from another challenge in life, his latest interview with "Good Morning America" will reveal how he and his family have chosen to rise above the situation and fight to overcome it together.
