Meet Cast of ER 10 Years after the Famous TV Show Ended

Two decades have passed since one of America’s favorite medical dramas aired its 15th and final season. Many stars had their breakthrough roles in the series; this is what they are up to now.

During its 331 episodes as the longest-running primetime scripted medical drama on TV, “E.R.” had us hooked to our screens to watch every new twist of the story that revolved around the County General Hospital.

Apart from a captivating script, the series’ main attraction was the parade of stars that appeared on the show, many of which went on to lead rich and prolific careers. This is a little of what of the most famous faces from “E.R.” have been up to lately.

ANTHONY EDWARDS

The 57-year-old actor played Dr. Mark Green from Season 1 to 8, for a total of 182 episodes, until the character was written off, dying from a brain tumor. Nevertheless, the showrunners had him back for the final season via a flashback.

His next recurring role was on “Zero Hour” in 2013, and then he recurred on “Law & Order True Crime” playing Judge Stanley Weisberg in 2017. He also debuted as a film director in 2016 with “My Dead Boyfriend.”

GEORGE CLOONEY

The 58-year-old actor played Dr. Doug Ross from Season 1 to 5, appearing as a special guest in both Season 6 and the final, for a total of 109 episodes. Clooney left the show after successfully cross over to the big screen.

Ever since then, Clooney has become one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood, with acting credits that include “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” “Ocean’s Eleven”, and “Gravity.”As a producer, he won the Oscar for Best Picture with “Argo” in 2012, shared with Ben Affleck.

SHERRY STRINGFIELD

The 52-year-old actress played Dr. Susan Lewis from Season 1 to 3, and then returned from Season 8 to 12, as well as for the finale, for a total of 142 episodes.

Following her “E.R.” years, Stringfield landed roles in several TV movies, as well as making an appearance on “C.S.I.” in 2013. In 2014 she was cast on “Under the Dome,” and more recently on “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, from 2016 to 2017.

NOAH WYLE

The 48-year-old actor played Dr. John Carter from Season 1 to 11, returning for Season 12 as a Special Guest and again for the finale, for a total of 254 episodes.

After leaving the series, Wyle starred in “Falling Skies” from 2011 to 2015. He parodied his “E.R.” character as a Hospital Administrator for the comedy series “Angie Tribeca” in 2016.

JULIANNA MARGULIES

The 53-year-old actress played Nurse Carol Hathaway from Season 1 to 6, returning for the final episode as a Special Guest, for a total of 136 episodes.

After her exit from the show, Margulies starred in the mini-series “The Mists of Avalon.” On the big screen, she appeared in the infamous “Snake on a Plane” in 2006. More recently she was cast as Dr. Nancy Jaax in “The Hot Zone.”

ERIQ LA SALLE

The 57-year-old actor played Dr. Peter Benton from Season 1 to 8, returning as a Special Guest for the last episode, for a total of 173 episodes.

Since leaving the series, La Salle has turned to directing for the small screen, apart from making appearances in both movies and series, most recently landing the role of Will Munson in “Logan” in 2017.

GLORIA REUBEN

The 55-year-old actress played Dr. Jeanie Boulet, which started of as a recurring role on Season 1 and was upgraded to regular on Season 2. She stayed on the series until Season 6 and returned as a Special Guest for Season 14.

Also a singer, she sang back vocals for Tina Turner for a while, and continued working mostly on TV, with roles on “Law & Order: SUV,” “Falling Skies,” and more recently “Mr. Robot” from 2015 to 2017.

LAURA INNES

The 62-year-old actress played Dr. Kerry Weaver, joining the series as a recurring character on Season 2 and continuing as a regular from Season 3 to 13. She returned for the series’ finale as a Special Guest, for a total of 250 episodes.

Later in her career, she has alternated between directing and acting. Her credits behind the camera include “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How to Get Away with Murder.” Innes was a regular in series like “Awake” and “Colony.”

ALEX KINGSTON

The 56-year-old actress played Dr. Elizabeth Corday from Season 4 to 11, and returned as a Special Guest for the final episode, for a total of 160 episodes.

After “E.R.” Kingston continued working on TV in series and mini-series such as “Lost in Austen,” “Law & Order: SUV,” “Arrow,” and currently on “The Widow.”

PAUL MCCRANE

The 58-year-old actor played Dr. Robert Romano from Season 4, when he was introduced as a recurring character, and then continued from Season 6 to 10 as a regular, returning for the finale as a Special Guest, for a total of 126 episodes.

Following his work in the series, McCrane didn’t appear in much apart from a recurring role in “Harry’s Law” in 2011, alongside Kathy Bates.

GORAN VISNJIC

The 47-year-old actor played Dr. Luka Kovac from Season 6 to 13 as a regular, continuing on Season 14 as a recurring, and returning for the finale for a total of 185 episodes.

After “E.R.” Visnjc starred in “The Deep,” and back in his home country, Croatia, he appeared on the historical drama “Tito.” On the big screen, he made an appearance on David Fincher’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”

MING-NA

The 55-year-old actress played Dr. Jing-Mei “Deb” Chen, who was first introduced as a recurring character on Season 1 and only returned as a regular for Season 6 to 11, for a total of 118 episodes.

Following her role in the series, she continued being cast in important series such as “Vanished” and “Two and a Half Men.” She also did voice work for “Phineas and Pherb,” and has been a regular on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” since 2013.

MAURA TIERNEY

The 54-year-old actress played Dr. Abby Lockhart from Season 6 to 14, returning for the final episode for a total of 189 episodes.

After the series was wrapped, Tierney went on to play roles in “Rescue Me,” “The Whole Truth,” “The Good Wife,” and most recently “The Affair.”

LINDA CARDELLINI

The 44-year-old actress played Charge Nurse Samantha Taggart from Season 10 to the end of the series.

Following "E.R." Cardellini continued to regularly appear on series, but she also became a movie actress with roles in “Scooby-Doo,” “Brokeback Mountain,” and as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing Laura Barton.
